We are an interdisciplinary collective of young creatives aged 18-30 founded by @taschtastic in May 2020. The Collective aims to build creative communities beyond the bounds of formal education and to provide pressure-free environments where creativity can flourish through a range of workshops and events. Members meet regularly to collaborate on projects including zines and exhibitions. Assemblage is currently in residence at the @foundlingmuseum 🎨

Why the name? 🤔
In art, ‘assemblage’ refers to art made by assembling disparate elements into a creative whole. Assemblage art gives (often mundane) objects new meanings, makes creative connections between different elements, and elevates non-art materials into the world of art. Assemblage art often blurs the distinction between different art forms such as painting, sculpture, and theatre.
As an interdisciplinary collective, we bring together creatives from all disciplines and work with a collaborative approach that breaks down distinctions between different types of creativity, aiming to foster environments that are nurturing and inspiring for all, even people who don’t consider themselves to be an ‘artist’.
In our workshops, we often work with techniques related to assemblage art, such as collage. We love upcycling materials in our workshops and giving them a new artistic lease of life.

Had such a lovely time last week facilitating the Build Your Future Worker Avatar workshop at @venturecafelondon , representing @assemblagecollective_ ✂️✨
It was so nice hearing people chat, exchange ideas, and imagine future identities while cutting, collaging, and building their little avatars together 💛
I really loved seeing how creative activities can open up conversations in such a relaxed and playful way.
Hope everyone enjoyed the workshop and left with their own future worker avatar ✨

I got to see so many sweet friends and meet so many new ones!!!!! I’m so grateful for social media because it helps us find each other…. But there is nothing that compares to irl crafty meet ups. Truly hallelujah!!!!!!!

An evening of community and creativity, crafting visions of a hopeful future in paper ✂️💛
So lovely to meet everyone who came to our Your City in Paper Workshop at the @southbankcentre as part of Creative Encounter earlier this week! ✨
Watching everyone come together on the night with both strangers and friends to chat and craft hopeful visions of a future city in paper was really special, and tbh this comes pretty close to our vision of a future city. Not least at a venue like the Southbank Centre that epitomises so many ideals we think are important to community and city life - free space to just BE, a huge cultural programme exploring a huge array of art forms, and free events like this where you can craft at your own pace surrounded by new old friends or new acquaintances. 🫂
It’s moments like these when this huge city feels less lonely & we feel even more grateful to exist within it and be doing what we are doing 💛
