We are very happy to finally release this special live set from local taste maker @e_davd - the project of multidisciplinary artist Emmanuel David Monteiro. Drawing on the ancestral legacy of the Afro-futurists, E Davd utilizes techno music and its many derivative strains as a vehicle to explore the ways humans interface with nature and technology.
In his words, “This performance was a mix of new material and demos I’m working on. Some may be released one day, some maybe not. It’s fun to be able to play them live before releasing them, I get to road test them and take them apart and put them back together on the fly. Most of the sounds are hardware synths from my studio that I’ve recorded over the past few years, and the drums are sequenced in ableton for the most part. It was interesting making some functional rhythm oriented stuff after having mostly worked on ambient music for the last little while. I’d like to perform these tracks on a larger system to an audience to see how they work in that context.”

The final session from our Meganesia takeover - It’s ISAYERRR - A proud Wemba Wemba man who is A regular in both Naarm + Eora’s harder and faster spaces.
ISAYERRR has supported heavyweights like Kilbourne, Casual Gabberz, and DJ Garbage, and most recently played a closing set at White Bay Power Station for the most recent edition of Soft Centre Festival playing with LANDFILL for their KOORISTYLEZ collaboration. Outside the booth, Isayer co-runs Finance Team, a local event series taking place in both the club and DIY spaces.

We are blessed on the next episode of ASPECT to have the one and only Fairie - joining us in the studio for an all original live set featuring her own vocals.
Fairie is an Eora-based songwriter and producer known for her beautifully dark and magical sound, emerging from a love of indie electronic, art pop and proggy 90s/2000s trance. Bringing a fresh perspective to these genres, Fairie imbues an essence of the enchanted and surreal in her music. With an intuitive approach to sound design, emotive melodies and vulnerable songwriting-- Fairie is on a mission to deliver songs for the heart and mind.
As a proud Chinese-Australian woman, her early exposure to Chinese ballads and vocal styles can be heard clearly in her music. Her works are self-produced and mixed, and she is a fierce advocate for stronger gender diversity in the audio sector.
In her words, this episode of ASPECT went a little something like:
“I performed my original music! I wanted to showcase the slower, darker side of Fairie that you wouldn’t necessarily hear on Meganesia as those releases are all 90s/2000s inspired trance. Also, we’ve found quite a few people who listen to those tracks ask about vox samples/where I’ve taken the vocals from and they don’t realise the singer is actually me. I write, produce, mix everything myself and I wanted people to know that. The vibe is an enchanted garden at 3am...the rain has stopped..and the nocturnal flowers are open/in bloom <3”

Ok, let’s go. It’s the first of our 4 sessions with @meganesia_aus - the Eora/Sydney based label pushing deep and heady trance and techno music out into the ether.
First up we are launching into minimal and hypnotic trance NRG with the Naarm/Melbourne based @bugabuga.nm
Nathan Muir, known as BUGABUGA, is a proud Wiradjuri Producer and DJ from Yorta Yorta country, now based in Melbourne. Drawing on deep cultural roots, his name “BUGABUGA” comes from the Wiradjuri word for “black”. A powerful reflection of identity and presence that informs his music. His sound blends expansive ambient textures with tight, infectious percussion, creating immersive grooves that evoke a collective experience on the dancefloor. BUGABUGA weaves genre-blurring sonic landscapes that speak to ancestry, movement, and community.
Some words from BUGABUGA about the mix:
“For this mix, my original idea was to go 100% original tracks, but after testing out a few different versions, I realised it worked better to weave my favourite selections in and build the set around them. I always want to create moments that stick with people giving space to actually digest the music, rather than just hearing it at face value. The vibe leans toward a hypnotic, trance inspired energy, but I like to strip things back to minimal at times, letting the set rise and fall in different directions. I also pulled from a range of tracks, some older and some new, because I love how timeless sounds can sit alongside modern day trance.”
