We are very happy to finally release this special live set from local taste maker @e_davd - the project of multidisciplinary artist Emmanuel David Monteiro. Drawing on the ancestral legacy of the Afro-futurists, E Davd utilizes techno music and its many derivative strains as a vehicle to explore the ways humans interface with nature and technology.
In his words, “This performance was a mix of new material and demos I’m working on. Some may be released one day, some maybe not. It’s fun to be able to play them live before releasing them, I get to road test them and take them apart and put them back together on the fly. Most of the sounds are hardware synths from my studio that I’ve recorded over the past few years, and the drums are sequenced in ableton for the most part. It was interesting making some functional rhythm oriented stuff after having mostly worked on ambient music for the last little while. I’d like to perform these tracks on a larger system to an audience to see how they work in that context.”

@stopwaronpalestine has launched an artists statement calling on Vivid Sydney to end it's sponsorship by AirBNB. If you are an artist in Vivid or have withdrawn and want to sign message our page or use the link in our story.
This week, as Vivid Sydney begins, Israel’s genocide in Gaza has reached its most monstrous stage yet. The UN has warned that 14,000 children could starve to death within days if Israel does not end its blockade.
Vivid has partnered with Airbnb – a company that is complicit in Israel’s system of apartheid and violent expropriation of Palestinian land.
There are over 320 Airbnb listings in Israeli settlements in East Jerusalem and the West Bank, some of them in homes stolen from Palestinian people.
Continuing this partnership makes Vivid itself complicit in normalising the illegal occupation of Palestinian land and “art-washing” Israel’s crimes.
ICYMI - we're calling on @vividsydney to drop their @airbnb sponsorship as part of the cultural & economic boycott of companies tied to the Isr43li genocide in Palest1ne
If you can, support this campaign by signing the petition (link in bio), sharing updates from @stopwaronpalestine , and if you're an artist performing at the festival, by withdrawing your labour until vivid drops the sponsorship.
Successful campaigns like this WORK. You only have to look recently to Sydney festival which dropped Isr43li sponsorship after pressure from the community. Mass movements, work bans and boycotts have historically been crucial in opposing war, from Vietnam to apartheid. We need to build an anti-war movement that draws on this history ✊🏼🇵🇸❤️
📢Heartfelt @radioskidrow post incoming!!!
Hey y'all - as you may have noticed, the radio skid row radiothon is in full swing, and we're trying to raise $50,000!
Being deeply involved with the station over the past year has been such a rewarding experience, and I've been able to see first hand radio skid row's power as a site of cultural exchange, community building and progressive political discourse. I've seen people's whole world open up when they walk through the door, and I've seen how the radio lifts up the voices of those who aren't afforded an opportunity to be heard - and blasts it loud and proud around the globe.
For over 41 years we've relied on the support of the community to keep us going, so if you are able to, please dig deep and chuck us a few dollars - anything you can spare makes a difference. Your donations will help us repair essential equipment, train new volunteers and build a financial buffer that will keep radio skid row broadcasting for another year.
We know that so many are doing it tough right now, so all donations are appreciated. Similarly, there are many worthy causes, and we hope that through your support we can keep working to amplify those causes even louder 🍉💓✊🏼
Thanks for hearing me out and if U wanna donate, head to radioskidrow.org & follow the links.
Long live 2RSR!
