Heartlines
This project explores the intersection of private thoughts and public spaces. Born from an echo of inner dialogue, Heartlines is an invitation to connect…thoughts are scattered in hopes of reaching others on the same frequency.
The goal of this work is happenstance: for a stranger to turn a corner and find a sentiment that feels plucked directly from their own head. Designed with a fluorescent pink, glowing edge, these hearts are meant to be a glimmer in the wild. Neon pink as the color of pure uncomplicated joy, a carnival prize, a swizzle stick, a small brightness in your day, a treasure. Each heart’s shape is a nod to the intimacy of memorial/keepsake jewelry—carrying a sentiment close to the chest.
Support the Journey:This is a self-funded, independent public art project. By purchasing one of these pieces, you are becoming a patron of the larger project, allowing me to continue installing these messages of human connection in the streets.
@iamhellsea is the artist behind this incredible original painting on wood and this giclée print of her fur baby Billie. Proceeds from the print sale go to Underdogs Rock!. She is a dog foster for @urrescue and is hosting the fundraiser and meet and greet tomorrow at the gallery at the closing party. We hope to see you there.
This gorgeous rendition of Calvin by @crystald_ayala is so charming and full of life! Acrylic and colored pencil on panel. Crystal who runs @afterschoolmarket will have a bake sale tomorrow raising funds for @urrescue
Milkshake by @lisacongdon is wearing a cute polka-dotted sweater in this portrait. “Milky”, as she’s called by familiars, happens to be close pals with my girl Frida. I love this acrylic on wood life-sized portrait by her mom @lisacongdon
I first met Winston (the long haired dachshund) and his human Steve at the dog park several years ago. Steve has since participated in a few shows and gallery events, so I knew he’d love to put Winston in the DOG show! Steve made two identical & reversible wooden sculptures (with feet so they can be displayed free-standing) of Winston rolling by on his skateboard.
@wherewinstonwanders
Sunny Eckerle’s rendition of her dog Jeff looks like a magazine spot illustration but is over 3 feet tall! Crafted out of foamcore and paint I love how Sunny scaled up her drawing to a life sized sculpture. @sunnyeckerle
Ben Seale created his bulldog titled “Ruff Draft” out of paint and plywood. I love the painterly treatment on his fur and his perpetual grumpy side eye. His spiked collar lets you know he means business! Created by @focusgroupcreative
I reached out to one of my favorite illustrator/animators @banich.makes to see if he might make a dog. Of course he went all in and made a 4 foot tall poodle. While I was walking my dog one day, I ran into a real life version of this dog named Miss Sooki Button and she stopped by the gallery - see second photo!
I also knew I wanted texture, of course my favorite tufted rug artist came to mind and executed this wonderful dog named Peanut. Lovingly made by @emilysmallstudio
Anna Rogers was the top of my list when I started curating the DOG show. She cuts the shapes out of wood then carefully paints the details. They are all so charming! @annarogersart
And, fun fact, she painted a mural in the gallery bathroom featuring her dogs. So when you visit, be sure to use the loo!
