On Friday morning I had the honour of photographing the annual International Women’s Day Breakfast at Government House for the second year in a row. It was an inspiring morning hearing from award-winning ABC journalist Sally Sara AM as the keynote speaker. Sally shared powerful insights from her time reporting in some of the world’s most challenging environments. Sally said something that hit home “The most dangerous place for a woman to be is not a war zone - it’s in her own home. And for women who are in those dangerous situations on the domestic front, that is their country, and they may have little power, not much at all. They are little countries. So, what we do in families, as aunties, as mothers, as grandmothers, as great-grandmothers, as people in the community, as teachers, that is equally as important.” Hearing Sally’s words, and Her Excellency’s equally moving remarks on the collective responsibility we all share to create a more just world for women and girls, was incredibly motivating. These are the kinds of events and messages that fill me with hope and determination as a woman and a storyteller. Grateful to have been there to capture it all and to be surrounded by such inspiring women. #IWD2026 #InternationalWomensDay #IWD #SouthAustralia #Adelaide

The Coast is Calling 🌞 a very special project to have been apart of. Five years ago I moved to South Australia, and this campaign felt like a full-circle moment. I came on board as 2nd Unit Production Assistant and also featured as talent - which made it even more meaningful. I really love this state, so being part of something that supports its coastal communities makes me very proud. The passionate locals I met on the Yorke Peninsula were incredible - people who deeply love where they live and who deserve our support. It was also so special to work alongside such talented, kind humans. We all supported each other and worked so well as a team. Very grateful to call this work🥹 A big thank you to @hellomaeking for asking me to be on board and trusting that I would be suitable joining this crew. “Project Goobang” is a story of adventure, discovery and motherhood. A 130km journey through the heart of Goobang National Park, Sarah pushed limits and uncovered the beauty of her own backyard. On Sunday, this short documentary will be releasing on YouTube, exactly one year since the adventure took place. PROUD PROUD PROUD🥺 (this definitely deserved a spot on the feed!!) Since Feb 2024, we’ve been working with Tim and Michelle and have been part of the @stillrunning_for_stillbirth team. This was such a special project to work on. What Michelle and Tim have been through is absolutely heartbreaking and all they want is for fewer families to experience the pain of losing a child the way they did. Last November, we followed Michelle as she set out to run from Adelaide to Melbourne (!!) to raise $1 million for the @stillbirthfoundation - from the very start, the goal was to document the whole journey and create a film that would raise awareness about stillbirth in Australia, push for change, and help break the silence. Stillbirth is more common than most people realise: - Six babies are stillborn every day in Australia, that’s over 2,000 families affected every year. - The rate of stillbirth in Australia hasn’t significantly improved in decades, despite advances in prenatal care. - Many of these losses are preventable but there needs to be more awareness, funding, and open conversations. I was lucky enough to produce the film, photograph, and post on socials throughout the run, and @justinbroughton_ filmed the entire journey and has put together the most incredible documentary that I can’t wait for you all to see🥺 It premieres THIS WEDNESDAY in Adelaide at Event Cinemas Glenelg! There’ll be more info soon on where else it’ll be shown across the country, let us know if you’d want it in a cinema near you! I’ll also be sharing more soon about the run itself and what it was like to help bring this story to life! #stillbirth #stillbirthawareness #stillbirthaustralia #stillbirthfoundationaustralia #australianfilm #australianfilmmaker #australiandocumentary #documentaryfilm

this feeling is pretty surreal ✨ to have collaborated on this documentary project with my best friend and partner is something I could only dream of and now to call it work, is extra special. as I mentioned last night “everyone has a story and we get the opportunity to tell it authentically and creatively” (or something along those lines😅) - meeting likeminded people like @sar679 in this journey, telling her story and now becoming such good friends is what it’s all about for me. a huge thank you to our friends, local community and people who wanted to show their support by coming to our adelaide screening last night! we packed out the room and had some really lovely questions and feedback! @themercury.adl was the perfect venue and we are super keen to make more films and do this all over again!! now time to enter @projectgoobang into film festivals so many, many more of you can watch it 🎬🧡 Director: @declanhartleybrown_ DOP: @justinbroughton_ Producer, Photographer: @ashleyswallow_creative #adelaidefilm #screenaustralia

Parkes, NSW played host to something truly special on Friday - the film premiere of ‘Project Goobang’! This isn’t just a running documentary; it’s a powerful and intimate journey through 130 kilometers of Goobang National Park’s rugged trails and untamed wilderness, exploring the incredible strength of motherhood and the resilience of the human spirit. To have been part of Project Goobang was an absolute privilege. From the very beginning, witnessing @sar679 unwavering determination and focus was inspiring. Her vision for @projectgoobang is truly incredible, and it felt special to be involved in something so deeply personal. This film captures an unfiltered adventure from the southernmost tip to its northern edge of Goobang NP, showcasing both its stunning beauty and the immense challenge of pushing beyond limits. At its heart, it’s a testament to resilience – a mother embracing an immense challenge while bringing her daughter along on the journey, proving that strength and determination walk hand-in-hand with motherhood. Parkes has truly become our home away from home, and we’re so grateful for the wonderful family and community we’ve gained. Next steps will be showing this film to more of you (stay tuned) and entering it into film festivals!!
