I’ve wanted this for so long but I didn’t expect to cry 🥺🥺
This was the first day, first wave and I had no idea what to expect about the waves here in Lombok especially in the open water. I didn’t grow up close to the ocean and I’ve never been 100% comfortable even when swimming because I don’t know how to read the water.
It didn’t matter that this wave got cut short by a crash, that was actually pretty funny and kind of expected with the amount of people in the water😅 The fact that I got up first go was enough to make me insanely happy and so proud!
Reminding myself that it doesn’t matter that i’m starting to surf at the age of 32, I really don’t think it’s too late for anyone to start surfing or start a new hobby of any kind.

Fun fact, last time I caught a wave in Indonesia was 10 years ago using a @gopro Hero4 and now for this trip I’m so glad I upgraded to a Hero13 to capture these moments🥺

@justinbroughton_ and I are filming about an hour and a half away from here for the next few days so sadly won’t get heaps of time to explore, but even flying in was enough to realise how wild, remote and beautiful this place is. the red dirt from above honestly looked like we were landing on another planet!!!

this is from our trip in September last year, we were the only ones here at sunset… no idea how because look at those mountains!!!!
i’m thinking of heading back to the Dolomites this year or maybe somewhere else in the world to do simple things like hike, eat sandwiches and stare at pretty mountain peaks - who’d be keen to join!?
📍 Tre Cime di Lavaredo / Drei Zinnen / Three Peaks (apart of the Lago d’Antorno - Col Forcellina - Rifugio Auronzo trail) we didn’t want to pay €50 for parking so we got up super early and hiked up - it was my favourite hike of the trip!! if you need more info on this let me know!

I was in Melbourne for the weekend and JB had said he was cleaning up the shed area but told me it was all still a big pile of dirt… Alice picked me up from the airport and I came home to THIS 😭

part 4 - the shed has been moved!!! 😭
most of the footage from the day is on the camera which is for youtube (when we get around to editing it😅) so this is what I captured on my phone!
we’ve been wanting to do this since we moved in over a year ago but hadn’t found the time until now - we knew it was going to open up the backyard but actually seeing it come to life and how much it changed the space is crazy! we are so lucky to have had beautiful friends come over and help us, it wouldn’t have been at all possible without them🥹
what we did:
- picked up and moved the shed
- quick trip to buy some bolts and things
- screwed the shed into the concrete
- used an angle grinder to cut the fence
- drilled the fence back on
- removed all the plants that were up against the shed
- removed some of the insanely painful yucca roots
- moved the bricks onto the concrete to build the floor back up
- cleaned up the backyard a little
huge day!! now for a @bunnings trip in the morning to get supplies to build out the overlap of the shed, a few tools that we don’t have (and need) and a trip to the tip!!
