JOIN US TOMORROW NIGHT, for the opening reception of SELF, RECLAIMED @porvidacafe 5-9PM. - Thank you to @b.alexandriaa x @lovergirl.social for creating a space for women to naturally TAKE SPACE through their self portraiture. - Being an artist, at its core, has always brought me back to my own reflection, where I study the shadows that I otherwise do everything within my power to ignore, self portraiture has made me face head on. The camera has become unlike any other mirror in the world, one where you can really see yourself and every lie your brain may trick you into thinking is your truth. We often belittle our selves, becoming our harshest critics- to this I am no exception. Turning the camera on myself has always brought me a sense of empowerment, and taught me more about light and my spirit above all else. It’s therapy, it’s confrontational, it forces you to reclaim the space you otherwise wouldn’t, and for that I am grateful. - Come join us & reclaim your own power. 💫

Birthday recap. The trip that reminded me of who I am. - Safe to say, in LA, I am placed into boxes. Woman: box. Brown: box. Queer: box. I am constantly reminded of these lines and limits that I am meant to stay in. Things like, ‘Too weird. Too nice. Doesn’t make sense. You’ll never make money doing that,’ all trigger bells in my mind over and over. - In Paris, I am loved for being exactly who I am. - For the past year, I shrunk myself. I acquiesced to the request of my bullies and critics. It felt then, only right to stop shining my light. I couldn’t bare the weight of their opinions of me. Making myself smaller felt like my only option for safety. - Paris welcomed me back with open arms. Paris asks, ‘Why are you holding back? Get WEIRDER. Your light is yours to possess. No one and nothing can take it away.’ (Thank you @samtheworld 🤍) - Thank you to the city that now is more of a home than home. One that reminds me to take space and shine brightly, shamelessly. - To each person that reminded me that I deserved to celebrate another year of still being here, and how triumphant it truly is, that in spite of the limitations ´home’ often gives me, I appreciate the encouragement for me to shed and grow, more than I could ever say. - Know that it’s ok to outgrow what you’ve always known, and to go where you are truly appreciated.
