Hey folks, weâre blossoming into this beautiful March Tuesday with a new song called Broken Open! It was fun to write and record this one while also being pregnant with my second child (she is expected to make her appearance this week).. the new life inside of me definitely inspired a lot of this music, and itâs cool to see spring breaking through in the form of birds nests and daffodils right as all of this exciting stuff is happening this week :)
Our song Broken Open is based on a poem by the Persian poet Rumi called âDance when youâre broken open.â Around this time last year I found myself really inspired by the text and compelled to set it to a song, I found the message beautiful and spiritually significant & uplifting. 2025 was a difficult year in many ways and Rumiâs line âDance in the middle of the fightâ kept repeating in my mind. He was spot on for today back in the 1200s
This song was truly a collaboration between GastĂłn, Andy, and me. I brought the original concept but Andy wrote a lot of the B section and GastĂłn penned the ending, and we all contributed in bits and pieces throughout. Writing together takes time, but when I hear the finished song I really feel that itâs worth the time it takes.

The beauty of IBMA week. I was at the Marriott at 2am, walked up to a group of musicians I didnât know, playing a song Iâve never heard before, and had an absolutely stellar time jamming/exchanging ideas with them. Music truly is the universal language and Iâm so blessed to speak it đśâ¤ď¸
