@medusabargeelong turned it on for @dick_move_dick_pics on Friday, Waitangi Day. Had been looking forward to this gig for ages and they didn't disappoint. Amazing 🔥 Supported by @pizzadeathband666 and @mulshlucka_band (who were on fire btw- so fricken good!). Such a great gig and it felt good to be back seeing live music at my local Geetroit fav, Medusa Bar

6 weeks into the new year, and I'm still managing to food prep my work week rainbow lunch bowls each Sunday. Cooking for one can be challanging, so this has been a good way for me to look after myself and to ensure I'm getting the good stuff into me. Plant-based and vegan for the animals. Always and forever

Saturday arvo gig at The Breaky. I absolutely adore this venue and am stoked to see they have a few festivals coming up over the summer. May this gem of a pub never EVER be "gentrified". Stay punk forever. Really enjoyed the @burningeffigy_band set. And Poppin Mommas...well they always turn it on. So much fun
Went past what's left of this public photographic exhibition in Little Malop Street, Geelong. With the strip ever changing, I find it ironic that these photos of the Geetroit live music scene, notably the alt and punk music captured at venues like @medusabargeelong and @barwon_club have been put up on the site of a building that is highly unlikely to support such live music. First gig of 2026, & what a cracker @wolfpackshred supported by @arborists.band@rattlebackband & @heterophobesband at @cafegummo_bar which is the coolest venue I've been to yet. How amazing to be in a safe, inclusive space. It felt so good being there. Thank you Sarah for sharing your birfday with us all xxx

Spent the last day of my break snorkelling at Indented Heads. Can't believe I'd never been there before; it's insanely beautiful, the water is divine, and the wreck of The Ozone is pretty cool. Saw a stingray which was very excoiting indeed.
Pelicans are mad birbs. Watching them land and take off in the water is ridiculous. I love them.

Trying really hard to get in the mood this year & failing miserably. Ongoing genocide, the rise of fascism, impending climate collapse, political oligarchy, a domestic & gendered violence epidemic, a mental health crisis & mass apathy to the general fuckeduppedry of the world makes it kinda hard to feel any ho ho hope.
Still, I managed to put up my tree & I bought myself this cat advent puzzle which has been fun (even though Spider & Freya make it difficult to do through the floof). Puzzles are so meditative for me, so yay.
Christmas can be a shit time of year for many. Please reach out if you need an ear or a hug or if you want someone to scream into the void with. I'm here & I get it. Maybe one day I'll be the gingerbread in gift bags kinda person, but not today (Satan).
On a positive, this year has been one of immense personal growth for me. I'm stepping into myself, learning to build healthy boundaries and enforcing them (very confronting), leaning into the concept of radical acceptance, getting my body to a more balanced state, & accepting joy & love into my life. It's beautiful & terrifying & exhilarating & heartbreaking & all the things. As it should be.
Live music has been my greatest source of joy this year. My life has been enriched by the incredible bands I've seen at some really fucking cool venues. Equally important are the people involved in the scene. I feel safe. I feel at home. And that's a beautiful thing.
** I fckn LOVE this song and this album: Lesser Than by @the.subordinates is on very high rotation in my world & available to buy & download on @bandcamp It's a no-skipper in my opinion- ridiculously good. No longer together unfortunately, but keep an ear and eye out for Spencer T's new band The Henchmen who I got to see at @theworkersclub at @whatgoesonfest on Sunday. Really fckn great.

Have taken the rest of the week off to try to get rid of this crappy cold I've picked up.
So it's puzzles and podcasts, cats and vinyl. Care packages from fam help too and remind me I'm loved. @cloudberriesofficial puzzles are beautiful to do; this one is called Fauna and each piece placed makes me happy, as critters of every kind do.
Difficult to do, of course, with a 6kg Spider sitting on it all, the pieces sticking to his floofy pantaloons and half the bits flying with each swish of his magnificent tale. Ah well.
