서울을 기반으로 활동하는 건축사무소 오더매터와 건축 사진가 시모네 보시가 협업한 전시 <As Found>를 소개합니다. 이 프로젝트는 ‘as found’라는 개념에 대한 공통의 관심에서 출발했습니다. ‘As found’는 날것의 미학을 묘사하기보다 이미 존재하는 것과 함게하는 작업 방식을 의미하는데요. 두 팀은 이를 양식적 레퍼런스가 아닌 하나의 태도로 이해한다는 점에서 접점을 찾았습니다. 전시는 사진과 오브제를 동일한 주제에 대한 병렬적 응답으로 큐레이션하고, 그 안에 놓이는 방식으로 배치했죠. 새로운 요소를 자연스럽게 안착시키도록 조율하는 데 집중함으로써 사진과 오브제를 마치 그 자리에 있었던 것처럼 느낄 수 있도록 했습니다.
첫 전시는 철거를 앞둔 성수동 건물에서 열렸습니다. 오래된 공장과 소규모 제조업 건물들이 밀집했던 이곳은, 임시 전시와 팝업이 빈번하게 열리는 공간으로 재편되어 영속성과 일시성이 공존하는 조건을 가집니다. 기존에 편의점과 주거 용도로 사용된 건물의 상층부에는 한국 주택에서 흔히 볼 수 있는 겹겹의 도배지가 마감재로 남아 있었는데요. 시간이 흐르며 불규칙하게 축적된 패턴과 마감은 반복된 시공의 흔적이 새겨진 표면을 이루고 있었습니다. 도배지와 초배지 층을 제거한 후에도 일부 영역에서는 여전히 남아 있는 하지 초배지는 전시 조건의 일부가 됐죠.
1층에는 오더매터의 가구 작업 ‘페블 시리즈’가 오브제 필드로 제시됐습니다. 강바닥을 따라 수집한 돌에서 영감을 받은 작업은 단순한 가구가 아니라 하나의 매스로 구성했죠. 각각의 오브제는 독립적으로 설 수도, 더 큰 수평적 질서 안에서 집합될 수도 있습니다. 주조 알루미늄 프레임은 외곽과 다리를 하나의 연속된 구조로 통합하고, 그 안에 20mm 두께의 석재 슬래브를 삽입했습니다. 각 재료는 서로의 한계를 보완하며 균형을 이루죠. 여기에 시모네 보시의 사진은 벽지 바탕재로 사용되는 전통적인 한국 초배지 위에 배치했습니다. 별도의 프레임을 도입하는 대신, 두 겹의 초배지를 바탕으로 벽면에 시공한 뒤 프린트된 사진을 그 위에 놓았죠. 새로운 개입이 기존 질서 안으로 편입되어 또 하나의 레이어를 형성하는 방식을 만날 수 있는 색다른 전시였습니다. as found의 전시는 앞으로도 다른 방식으로 계속될 예정입니다.

@asfound_objects is the extension of Order Matter.
If Order Matter works through space, shaping environments and composing them with furniture, objects, and lighting as part of a larger whole, as found focuses on objects that can exist independently. While objects within a project respond to a specific context, as found objects are conceived on their own terms, defined not by a single site but by a continuous subject and attitude.
The name as found refers to encountering things as they are. Not an aesthetic of roughness, but a position of restraint, allowing forms to remain present without prescribing meaning.
In searching for a shared ground, we return to nature, not as imitation but as a universal experience. Nature is something everyone has encountered, yet each person remembers differently. It offers a common reference without fixing interpretation. Placed in daily life, these objects enter into a quiet dialogue with their surroundings, allowing associations to accumulate over time. What begins as a shared reference may gradually become personal, forming part of someone’s own leitmotif, a recurring theme shaped through lived experience.
Process defines the work, moving from observation to drawing and resolved through making. Technology sharpens precision, while craftsmanship responds to material behaviour. as found continues as an evolving body of work, extending these principles into objects that develop beyond a single project.

2025 has been a great year.
The completion of Raw House in Seoul marked the end of a long process and the beginning of something much bigger. Our first built architectural project under Order Matter. A moment of testing ideas, decisions and conviction. To have Simone Bossi capture the project and its making was a privilege, allowing the beauty of the process to sit alongside the finished work.
This year was also about pushing beyond architecture alone. Exploring scale in other ways, establishing As Found as an extension of our design ethos, and exhibiting objects that speak to the same values of care, intention and material honesty.
To experience life through architecture, making, food and drink is already a gift. To do so alongside people you trust wholeheartedly makes it something else entirely.
Looking ahead, the aim remains. To push our ethos further, to collaborate with more like minded and passionate people, and to continue doing what we genuinely love.
Here’s to a fruitful 2026.

12월, 상상했던 것처럼 눈 내리는 날은 너무 좋았고
11월, 오더매터는 첫 워크숍을 거제도로 갔고
10월, CMK에서 2년 전에 설계를 시작한 타임 서울 플래그십이 준공되었고, 1층에는 오더매터의 페블 시리즈 테이블도 들어갔고
9월, 11개월 만에 사기당한 줄 알았던 직구 조명이 도착했고
8월, 로하우스가 BOB 매거진 커버로 실리고 같은 달에 행가집, 와이드 AR, 인테르니앤코에 실리고
7월, 사무실 사이니지를 달고
6월, 성수동 Vertak에서 가구 전시를 했고
5월, Simone Bossi가 가족들과 같이 로하우스의 첫 손님으로 지내면서 준공 사진을 찍었고
4월, 첫 직원과 같이 오더매터 네 명이서 공사 중인 사무실 공간에서 간이 의자와 책상으로 작업을 시작했고
3월, 외벽 마감 공사 및 조경 등 마감 공사가 한창이었고
2월, 콘크리트 가구, 목공 및 내부 마감 공사가 진행 중이었고
1월, 간신히 극도로 추워지기 전에 내부 마감 공사를 할 수 있도록 창을 달았다
