Over the past weeks I’ve been building a VR workshop together with Paulina from Femreality.
It’s part of a holiday program for teenagers — but it goes beyond just “learning Unreal.”
We’re creating a full VR experience:
a custom Unreal template with a VR-optimized environment
and a digital runway at the center.
Inside that space, NPC mannequins will be dressed with garments we design in MultiBrush:
from idea → 3D piece → placed into a virtual world.
At the same time, I want to open up a bigger question:
what happens when fashion is no longer physical?
How ideas are developed, how design decisions change,
and how digital workflows reshape the entire process.

Working as a 3D fashion designer today means navigating between creativity, technology and AI.
I use AI as a tool, but the manual work is still the part I enjoy most — building garments, refining materials, understanding how light behaves in Unreal, and developing clothing that can actually function on a character inside a game.
For me, it’s not about generating quick visuals. It’s about understanding the system behind them and seeing the bigger picture of where digital fashion can exist.
AI can accelerate the workflow, but the creative direction and technical decisions still come from the designer.

In diesem Workshop entwirfst du deine eigene digitale Mode – von der ersten Idee bis zur virtuellen Fashion Show. Du beginnst analog mit Papier und Stift und bringst deine Ideen anschließend in den dreidimensionalen Raum: Mit der VR-Brille gestaltest du direkt in 3D und experimentierst mit Proportionen, Volumen und Details. Schritt für Schritt zeigen wir dir, wie du dein fertiges Outfit auf einem Avatar platzierst und ihn durch einen virtuellen Raum bewegst. Zum Abschluss präsentiert ihr eure Designs gemeinsam in einer virtuellen Fashion Show.

Digital fashion doesn’t have to stop at still renders. Going from CLO / Marvelous Designer to Unreal Engine, dressing a MetaHuman with Chaos Cloth, means rig the garments and weightpaints certain parts to simulate while the animation is running.
For me this levels up the process of Character Creation and design.
