@mylesigwe
Nigerian and London-based artist, designer and innovator Myles Igwebuike was welcomed to
@cooc.london for a fully immersive, site-specific presentation of multidisciplinary artforms.
Myles was selected to curate the Nigerian Pavilion at the
@londondesignbiennale at
@somersethouse , to widespread acclaim, and has since received special recognitions for his contribution. His investigations interrogated how notions of identity are shaped, not just as isolated constructs, but with a fluid nature influenced by memory, shifting histories, and crucially…community structure and collective experiences.
Through design, material intelligence and speculative storytelling, the pavilion challenged conventional narratives of cultural permanence, by asking how heritage, loss and reinvention shape the way societies evolve.
Inspired by how collective behaviour and conscious design drives compelling narratives within our own curatorial ethos at CoOc, our partnership reflected how scenography, soundscape, live music and performance fosters a landscape for learning via alternative perspectives.
Ultimately, we unite and expand our community through a celebration of this creative expression, mastered by the groundbreaking practice from
@balimayaproject @nativesoundsystem @willsnowden and
@remixia_ - made possible by the pioneering spirit of
@bolanle_tajudeen who is a recurring source of divine inspiration ❤️
