Today is the day ! On this #GivingTuesday invest in our collective, creative futures. At the CEI we see equity as an honor to our whole holistic livelihoods through cultural sustainability and belonging. Here at the CEI we embrace the importance of community through collective liberation, collaboration & partnerships, and creativity. If you are here to break the cycles of oppression build towards a more equitable and culturally wealthy future, consider supporting the CEI this year. On May 20th, we gathered with the Greater Boston community in celebration 🥳 of ACI's decade of investment in creative justice. We enjoyed delicious food, arts workshops, and several music, dance and drag performances from our talented artists. #ACITurns10 We are incredibly grateful to all of the creators, leaders, colleagues, and friends with whom we have collaborated and built with over the years. None of this work would have been possible without you, nor will any of the work to come be possible without you! We are around $5,000 away from our fundraising goal, as we are hoping to raise $35,000 by July 1. If you couldn't attend the event, but you're still interested in investing in our future, please make a gift of any size through the link in our profile. Thank you for your continued support as a member of our ACI family. Check out this slideshow with special memories ✨ from our time together at the Cultural Equity Incubator. What does collective governance look like? It is messy, beautiful, yummy, and full of laughter. It is showing up to the journey without a map, using whatever tools we have in the room. It is appreciating what we’ve built until now. It is listening to a wealth of perspectives and experiences and working together to identify a collective path forward. This winter, the CEI is excited to deepen into our collective action experiment as we face many structural changes. Core partners met for a winter retreat to land on our next steps. Thank you to our partners @abcgreaterboston @artsconnectint @danzaorganica @middaymovementseries @theflavorcontinues @dunamisboston @artintheantilles Special thanks to our ACI admin team for stewarding, @oye_mari_ for leading our strategic objectives process, and @kuyascooking for keeping us fed and happy!

These are excerpts of installations by @hanan_.azaiza10 , one of the artists of our current gallery show, Humanity As A Praxis. A 19-year-old Palestinian writer and visual artist from Gaza, Hanan weaves together threads of personal experience and collective memory, reclaiming the silence of reality through words and images that speak what cannot be said. She published her first book, Threads of Life, a delicate poetic reflection on life under the weight of war and occupation. And the novel “The Empty Chair”, a fragmented narrative pulsing with absence, identity, and the struggle to survive amidst cruelty—where words become windows into the fragility of memory and the breaking of the spirit. Come through to check out the show, featuring Hanan and 4 other artists from Palestine and Syria.

Meet @fab_qab , a visual artist who paints to preserve memory—to defy forgetting. She joins Humanity As A Praxis under the title “Can One Who Paints Life Ever Be Erased?” A tribute to the souls of the martyrs, as if they never left. For she believes their lives were never truly extinguished. In her canvases, life continues, laughter returns, and the pulse endures. Her art is no farewell, her art is an uprising. Engage Kawthar’s work and honor martyrs including Fatima and Mohammad by gathering to open Humanity As A Praxis, hosted by @culturalequityincubator this Thursday February 5 at 5:30-8:30pm bit.ly/HumanityAsAPraxis

Sending up protection for all engaging in today’s National Shutdown #MeltICE 🧊🔥 We wonder: how can shutting down the nation as-is open paths toward the world we want? Here’s our offering ~ The lineup of artists participating in the exhibition has undergone some changes in response to community and artist needs. We will now be centering the work of Palestinian artists Hanan Azaiza, Ahmed Jarbou, Ahmad Al-Daalsa, and Osama Hussein—alongside their Syrian friend, Kawthar Al-Qabbani. Come through to support them and witness a selection of their photographs, drawings, and installations documenting life and resistance in Gaza. HUMANITY AS A PRAXIS brings together artists whose work interrogates, challenges, and reimagines what it means to resist through literature, documentation, and art action. Across cultures and generations, art has served as a fugitive thread that pushes back the rhetoric of those who inflict suffering and are in power; at the same time, creative work ignites a sense of collective hope in times of oppression and struggle. We look forward to seeing you next Thursday at 5:30-8:30 for the CEI’s last gallery reception at our current offices at the Midway Artist Studios. We will be offering a selection of appetizers from Andala Coffee House and a facilitated conversation on the exhibit by SMFA professor Qais Assali.
