“It is better to choose the right actor than the best actor.” I attended the Mastershoot: Casting Call with Brenden Rodriguez yesterday, and I was able to grasp the context behind this statement—a golden piece of advice for actors. Among the many spot-on tips shared, this one in particular stood out, highlighting the fact that auditions these days are becoming increasingly directed and carry very specific intentions. The casting director for The Boys and Gen V stated that, technically speaking, the “best” actor undoubtedly executes every direction perfectly; however, the one who truly becomes the right actor for the role is the one who manages to be interesting. After watching so many excellent actors perform exactly as directed, the one who distinguishes themselves by being interesting is the one who truly makes the casting director sit up on the couch. That is the right actor for the role. Having him present at the @miamifilm 43rd Miami International Film Festival was a true gift for us actors. Dentre as muitas acertadas dicas, essa em particular chamou a atenção por se tratar de que os testes hoje em dia vem cada vez mais dirigidos e com intenções bem marcadas. O diretor de elenco de The Boys e Gen V afirmou que tecnicamente o melhor ator sem dúvida, cumpre todas as direções, mas o que realmente se torna o ator certo para o papel é aquele que consegue ser interessante. Depois de ver tantos atores ótimos fazendo muito bem o que foi dirigido, aquele que faz o que se diferencia ao ser interessante, é o que realmente faz quem escolhe o elenco se mexer no sofá.
