🥇 Yesterday, we attended Funding Arts Broward Grant Award Celebration as grant recipients. The tireless work that we do to ensure that art and literacy is at the forefront of social development in our communities requires support from organizations like Funding Arts Broward to help pay our artists and to support our programming.
We were thrilled when we were invited to bring students to show proof of the power of creative expression through programming funded by FAB’s Spark Campaign. It was beautiful to witness the growth and confidence of students such as Jamare Clarington and Benji Leyva. We are so proud.

Art Prevails Project’s talented ensemble of actors bring new and exciting energy to the classic words of one of history’s most prolific writers, Shakespeare. From literary scholar to Hip Hop enthusiast, The Bard in Bars has something for every audience member to enjoy.

The Resilient Vision of Purvis Young
Presented in collaboration with Art Prevails Project, this pre-show exhibit features selected works from The Black Archives permanent collection of over 400 original pieces by Purvis Young (1943–2010). Young’s legacy demonstrates that creativity can triumph over any circumstance, creating expressive paintings on reclaimed materials, such as weathered plywood and discarded doors. These works serve as a visual testament to the Overtown community and the broader Black experience across the nation. Recurring themes of freedom, social struggle, and spiritual flight define his aesthetic. Through these pieces, guests witness how art prevails as a meticulous record of the African Diaspora’s survival and genius.
