About Last night 𝗦𝗔𝗠𝗣𝗔 𝗔𝗥𝗧𝗦𝗖𝗔𝗣𝗘𝗦 brings together works by a group of artists operating within São Paulo, often affectionately referred to as “Sampa.” It reveals points of convergence, tension, and mutual influence between conceptual and vernacular practices. By engaging artists working from diverse cultural positions, the exhibition proposes a relational framework in which affectivities emerge through encounters, translation, and friction between conceptual practices and those rooted in material knowledge, artisanal traditions, popular iconographies, Indigenous traditions, informal architectures, diasporic trajectories, and everyday gestures. The inaugural exhibition in Tribeca closed last week. Bringing together artistic voices across Africa and Brazil, the show traced a dynamic exchange of forms and perspectives. Brazilian artist Pàulla Scàvazzini presents a new show at Kaliner Gallery in New York that brings together a body of work developed through an intimate, process-driven approach to material and form.
