FLASHBACK: UPRISE 2025 💜 Last year, we presented “UPRISE 2025: The Art of Resistance” at the @untitledspaceny — a 10th anniversary exhibition curated by @indiracesarine that brought together 100 artists for a rich, layered exploration of resistance, equality, and creative defiance. The show opened on March 8 in honor of International Women’s Day and was met with powerful engagement from artists, visitors, and the cultural community alike. We were honored to produce a program that included a live performance by @kathcrockett and a Women of Culture x Art4Equality tour — amplifying voices who continue to reshape the discourse of art and social impact. ✨I’m honored to be featured in an interview with @Artnet News discussing my work as an artist and the founding of The Untitled Space as a platform dedicated to amplifying marginalized voices and addressing cultural and political issues head on.✨✨✨
“Just over a decade ago, Indira Cesarine opened The Untitled Space in New York’s Tribeca neighborhood. The goal was to platform overlooked and marginalized voices and to forge an accessible entry point for audiences to experience the diversity that the art world has to offer. Besides being a gallerist, Cesarine is an artist herself. She also works as an editor, advocate, curator, and The Untitled Space operates at the intersection of all of these endeavors, resulting in a dynamic program that doesn’t shy away from some of the most pressing issues of today.” In the interview, I speak about my artistic practice, the gallery’s mission, and what has shaped the past decade of programming, as well as current and upcoming exhibits. Artist Lola Jiblazee @lolajiblazee is currently featured in the "UPRISE 2025: The Art Of Resistance" @art4equality benefit art auction live now on untitled-space.art! Lola Jiblazee (b. 1985) is a New York based multidisciplinary artist. Born and raised in Tbilisi, Georgia, where circumstances marked a lack of basic human necessities, Lola took to art in isolation. Drawing inspiration from her experiences where life revolved around religion, politics and complex family dynamics. Upon immigrating to NYC in their early 20s Lola held onto their intrigue for Christian Iconography and perception surrounding identity, hope, life and death. Within this intrigue, Lola began questioning their roots and coming to terms that what is taught isn’t always what is real. With a hunger for understanding the truth lola received an ASD diagnosis at 37. A revelation that deepened Lola’s artistic practice and expanded their creative vision. “We must resist the forces that seek to roll back the progress we have yet to fully achieve. Instead of advancing, we find ourselves facing a political climate intent on undoing the hard-won rights and freedoms many have fought for. This serves as a reminder of the need for solidarity and action in the face of these challenges. This work critiques the present while offering a vision for the future—a call to defend justice, dignity, and equality for every individual.” - Lola Jiblazee MORE INFO ➡️ untitled-space.com BIDDING CLOSES April 8th @ 5PM EST! untitled-space.art . . . . . #UpriseExhibit #UntitledSpaceNY #Uprise2025 #art #exhibit #art4equality #artauction #auction

Artist Katrina Majkut @katrinamajkut is currently featured in the "UPRISE 2025: The Art Of Resistance" @art4equality benefit art auction live now on untitled-space.art! “The art series Fair Play by feminist and embroidery artist, Katrina Majkut reimagines the classical art practice of miniature portraits in an unlikely form: the baseball card. In Fair Play, Majkut is reinventing o the baseball card worships, values, represents, and celebrates with a little paint and a whole lot of glitter. The baseball card, a tiny piece of cultural Americana, held the fascination of many American youths including Majkut herself. Growing up in Boston’s hardcore Red Sox fandom, the Curse of the Bambino was not the only shadow over Majkut’s baseball experience. It never dawned on the young Majkut that she was placing such importance on people who did not represent her and would never welcome her into their ranks. Fair Play reimagines the world of baseball as a place of healthy acceptance, inclusivity, and diversity; a place to see herself – and anyone who has felt excluded from or a complicated role in men’s professional baseball – as a truly welcomed teammate. Fair Play subverts the toxic masculinity of vintage baseball cards by obscuring the identity of the player, teams, and brands with mediums that have been stereotyped as domestic, feminine, queer, effeminate, and low-end.” - Katrina Majkut Katrina Majkut (My’kut), a Ukrainian American visual artist, curator, and writer, is dedicated to understanding how social traditions impact social and civil rights. In 2023, Majkut was part of national news when her artwork, Medical Abortion Pills was censored by Lewis-Clark State College administrators in the show she curated called Unconditional Care. Working with the ACLU and National Coalition Against Censorship, Majkut and the artists spoke out against censorship, first amendment violations, and anti-abortion laws.
