Live sonic meditation for the jiu jitsu community. Los Angeles, 2024.
Bringing sound meditation to the physicality of jiu jitsu was a generative site of my practical research.
I learned a potent reminder - strategy and awareness can overcome brute force. A slow, systematic approach — applied.
Live sonic meditation provided preparation for the nervous system before confrontation: for members of the community, before seminars @ryrongracie@we_gjjpasadena@gjjpasadena
This slower systematic approach connects the body to presence before engaging in critical conditions — a direct expression of my understanding of mental health and wellness not as the absence of difficulty, but as the capacity for presence in the face of reality.

A counter to the wellness industry’s echo chamber of perceived perfection.

A huge highlight of Berlin was to listen to original works at the incredible instrument of a space, Monom. Grounding to listen and exchange, thank you @shehryawr !
This audio is a composition with original works by @arressai created for an immersive web project with collaborator @saraybennett for @imalowres.nyu connections lab. We created a pro-topian immersive web experience where AI and deep sea creatures adapted in relationship to each other.
In the year 3000 technology adapted through the framework of animal sensing and in turn new creatures adapted to symbiotically evolve with Artificial Intelligence. We brought the project from web to reality with physical computing elements that engage our soft robot fondly named “Jelly”.
As a result of the ITP Grant we were able to print our creature in Agilus - giving the creature an organic quality.

iteration [I] bassBath 2025 Proof of Concept
Investigating the threshold where sonic frequency becomes tactile architecture. For this study, I deployed a perimeter of low-frequency transducers to test the permeability of water as a conductive medium for bass.
The goal of bassBath is a radical de-centering of the artist. By centering the audience within the experiential installation the artist is de-guruified, exalting the direct somatic experience of the receiver as the culminating aspect of the work.
In highlighting the phenomenology of sensing and discernment, the artist’s role becomes modulator of energy not creator of magic. I hope to highlight a transition of power and awareness through the perceptual systems directly affected in the installation.

Panel discussion on sound practices, rest as rebellion, and empowered listening.
In an effort to de-mystify some of the marketing techniques for sound baths, my panel explored the body as a sophisticated tool of awareness holding the individuals innate wisdom and insight as a road map for discernment and healing.
In an effort to push back against the idea of pedestaling the practitioner my work explores empowering the listener and engaging the senses as a pathway to discerning the truth.
This slow system of rediscovering the senses is a foundational inquiry where access to the subconscious mind through collective rest becomes a practice of interdependent discovery.
