New on the Journal
Set within the otherworldly quiet of Joshua Tree, A Space in Between unfolds as an immersive exhibition where botanical sculpture and modernist architecture act in concert. Conceived, designed, built, and curated by Interlude Studio (
@interludestudio.la ), the two-day exhibition brings Alejandro Bataille’s (
@alejandrobataille.studio ) work into lucid dialogue with Tera Haus (
@tera_haus ), inviting visitors to move through interiors and desert grounds as if tracing a single contemplative line.
Tera Haus, designed by Interlude Studio, rests quietly in a secluded cove within Joshua Tree. The house appears weightless — its smooth facade and the gentle rhythm of slender wooden slats catch the desert light in soft intervals. Inside, cool concrete floors and finely crafted joinery open onto a serene patio and pool amongst the brush, blurring the line between shelter and landscape. From every room, a window frames the desert — an endless conversation with nature that infuses the home with a rare, grounded serenity. The design is pared back yet assured, composed for stillness and clarity amongst the raw terrain.
