𝘈𝘳𝘢𝘤𝘩𝘯𝘰𝘪𝘥 is a site-specific installation made in collaboration with the sound artist Marco Colocci
@queimada.music during the residency organised by
@centrum_for_social_skulptur on The Floating Sea Palace, an enormous old ship that once operated as a Chinese restaurant.
Out of obscurity, a storyteller confides in a wreck. Collected remnants of materials found inside and outside the vessel were used to build a structure around Marco’s field recordings, gathered correspondingly. The sounds of the beheaded ship’s body— creaking, leaking, groaning—are trapped in the cobwebs drawn between its parts. Centered under the web-like ceiling of the ground floor, this ghostly giant echoes with the shapeshifting nature of its host, evoking mythical creatures of maritime folklore, inviting us to contemplate on collective memory under a microscopic lens.
Ceramic roof tiles, disposed boat parts, silk wallpaper fragments, carved wood panels, chains, rope, water, plants, light, speakers, transducer mic
