Dona Maria Odila Godinho, 73, is head of the female-led indigenous community of Anã, tirelessly working to sustain and protect her home on the banks of the Tapajós river in the Amazon rainforest. In addition to pollution from mining and deforestation in the region, 2023 saw the lowest rainfall in 40 years. Mulheres Sonhadoras em Ação - Women who Dream and Act - is a project that promotes the participation of women in economic activities that preserve the natural balance. With ever growing threats, Maria’s work is more crucial than ever. I was fortunate to be invited to join a team of leaders, learning how to directly address and find solutions to the polycrisis in the Amazon, through listening and reflection on themes like reverence, resource and responsibility. This is a clip from an ongoing series of stories I’ve been making on people protecting the Amazon. Full screen version in bio. Thank you to Kaiara Amazonia and Gran Misterio for having me onboard! #guardians #amazon #leaders #tapajos #brazil #healers

Link in bio ————- Last year, I set off around Northern India on my own, with no real plans. Simply to take travel tips from locals and chat to people along the way. The idea was to take only film and no digital, so I had about 10 rolls (30mins) of 16mm for 4 weeks. I wanted it to be more about the process of shooting, and being more involved/selective with what I filmed. It is a really terrible way of working when you come to the edit.. but.. the process was fun. I met and 'interviewed' several people, many with great stories.. but sadly could only use 3, along with the amount of footage I got. The moments I shot were guided by these encounters. Vol 1. Neena After a few days in Delhi I gave my friend Ananta a message for tips. She said I should go visit her Mum up in Dehra Dun. Neena kindly had me to stay at her home, in a remote region just below the Himalayas. Neena was one of the first people to bring Henna to the UK, 30 years ago. She spoke at length about spirituality, motherhood, India today and her life between Scotland and India. Today is the launch of our campaign for a documentary close to our hearts. Over the past year we’ve been filming Dale and many others navigating grief and loss. They’re deep and loving stories that remind us of our interconnectedness and humanity. It’s a love letter to grief workers, hospice care practitioners, end of life doulas and advocates, meditation teachers and wisdom keepers, and to anyone who has experienced, or is now experiencing, loss and change. We’re in the home stretch of bringing Dying to Live Now to life. This is a documentary exploring life’s biggest questions with heart and humor. Support the film at dyingtolivenow.com. Link in bio. Earth Day is a reminder, but for the Mamos and Indigenous people around the world, this is a daily practice. 🌎 “When there are misunderstandings, conflicts, or moments of tension, we ask for forgiveness. From each other, and from Mother Earth. Because when we harm one another, we are also disrespecting her.” A different way of seeing relationship. Not just with each other, but with all of life. Today, and every day, is a chance to return to that harmony. 🌱 #earthday #happyearthday #indigenouswisdom

The Zagas of the Sierra Nevada, Colombia. Matriarchs of the Wiwa people. The health of the Earth is deeply connected to and dependent upon the spiritual and ecological balance they uphold in these sacred mountains, guided by ancestral laws that shape how humans are meant to relate to every river, animal, and plant. The women weave thoughts, as they weave their bags. Sowing love and intention into the world as they weave in a spiral, representing the womb of the earth, the continuation of life, and connection the sacred mountain. When she weaves a bag, she infuses guidance and advice into the bag for the recipient. Join the Mamos and Zagas of the Wiwa and Kogui in Mexico May 16th to 23rd for a wisdom retreat. Learn to weave sacred mochilas, make spiritual consultations, pagamentos and much more. I met RamDev Dale Borglum 7 years ago when I began to learn about hospice care. Nobody tells you that contemplating death is like a cheat code for living well. It cracked my heart open. Over time I felt more connected to myself, to others, to the work I was doing. I said to Dale, “Why don’t more people know about you?” I think what I was really saying was, “I’ve been looking for an elder to pass along wise and compassionate teachings about this. Why did it take so long to find you?” Apparently I had to move to California first.    𝘋𝘺𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘰 𝘓𝘪𝘷𝘦 𝘕𝘰𝘸 is a short documentary made with my partner @archietms , following 83-year-old Dale, a life-long friend and collaborator of @babaramdass , as he shares insights shaped by decades of experiences, offering a compassionate “how to” guide for living fully, and reframing death as our greatest tool for healing.    We are looking for a select few to join our producing team to help bring this film into the world.     If this topic is something you’re passionate about and you want to help create it (previous filmmaking experience is not required), we’d love to hear from you. Send us a DM.   Produced by Aurora Leonard Directed by Archie Macpherson Additional cinematography David Neptune @tunetown   #filmmaking #documentary #grief #hospice

“Somebody has to bring the change” Sapana Village Lodge blends sustainable tourism with community development. At 14, Dhruba Giri had a dream. Now, he operates a successful tourism center that alleviates poverty by directing its profits into animal rehabilitation, organic farming initiatives, schools, and healthier living conditions for local communities. The project also supports the indigenous Chitwan people, who after being moved out of the jungle where they lived, are now having to adapt to modern ways of living. #minidoc #nepal #nepalnow #change #nepaltravel #nepalisbeautiful #nepalgram #sapana #chitwan #filmmaking #documentary #ecotourism #socialimpact #climatechange #entrepreneur Support Sapana and learn more @svsinepal
