We’re excited to announce our newest digital artist in residence, Celeste Burr-Herrara

‘Through this residency I will be developing a body of work; paper-work, wasp-work, care-work - a series of videos as assembled digital fragments alongside live digital performance. Emerging from explorations in how institutional documentation can be metabolised through the body, metaphor, found materials and then re-scripted digitally, I will construct a counter-archive rooted in care and attention to smallness - engaging with loss, change, clumsiness and messiness. Incorporating glitch, disruption and incoherence, the work aims to question dominant structures of record-keeping and storytelling within institutions - with particular attention to care-system experience.’

Acquisition Ongoing: Carbon Age Souvenirs by Lu Williams will be the next installation in our café from 29 May – 29 August. Using posters and zine templates, Lu invites you to contribute to an evolving installation imagining what the world might look like hundreds of years from now. Join us for the opening celebration on Friday 29 May from 6–8pm. You can make magnet relics, add to the artwork and get a temporary tattoo! Free to drop in. Lu (@LuWilliamsdotcom ) is an artist working across sculpture, print, zines and socially engaged projects. Their practice explores social history, labour and accessibility through the lens of queerness, neurodivergence and working-class experience. We’re very excited to introduce our new digital artist in residence: Mary Ocaña. ‘I’m hugely inspired by my Mexican-American heritage. As a 3D designer and artist, I focus on themes of Latiné identity, childhood memories, and Mexican folklore. I explore the ways in which a memory can become a digital archive through reconceptualisation. And how memories can come alive in our homes and buildings through objects and spatial design. I celebrate the process of becoming for these stories and memories, as I myself navigate my own story of becoming, as a Mexican-American living in Wales.’ Bosque De Mil Mariposas (Forest Of A Thousand Butterflies) takes the form of a video-game-like exploration that takes place inside an abandoned cabin in the woods of Mexico. The viewer is prompted to explore the inside of the cabin, equipped with a backpack, a pen and journal. What did this cabin used to be? What kind of objects reside within its disintegrating walls?  During my residency I will explore nostalgia for lost leisure spaces in Barry and Penarth. Engaging with local literature, archival images and oral histories, I’ll produce a risograph printed zine that reflects on our relationship to leisure and public space. /////

 Mab Jones - Makerspace Residency
 Your Words Belong Here Too by Mab Jones is a participatory poetry residency transforming community-contributed words into wearable text pieces and growing installations using reclaimed materials and textile techniques. The project will culminate in a celebratory community sharing event. /////

We had a great few days visiting studios and artists in Haverfordwest, Swansea and Aberystwyth. Three walks, three talks, one bakery visit 🌳 In 2025, ArcadeCampfa, Aurora Trinity Collective and Peak Cymru came together to stage a series of walks and creative workshops in Abergavenny, focused around Peak’s reading room and studio space on Platfform 2.
