What a day!
Finally after 6 years in the making we had a suitably anarchic unveiling of Terry Jones’ statue on Colwyn Bay
Joined by his fellow Pythons Michael Palin, Terry Gilliam and special surprise guest Carol Cleveland, the three had a cosy catch up in front of 3000 fans dressed as anything and everything Python or Terry! Python aficionado and super fan Suzy Eddie Izzard led them all in the chat, reminiscing about their dearly loved old friend Terry.
The statue sits on Colwyn Bay Promenade between the Pier and Porth Eirias

A heartfelt celebration of Terry Jones in Colwyn Bay
We were honoured to be part of last weekend's celebrations as the new Terry Jones statue was unveiled.
Thousands gathered to celebrate Terry’s life and legacy, with Monty Python costumes, clopping coconuts, favourite catchphrases and a joyful community atmosphere throughout the day.
The statue, created by sculptor Nick Elphick, celebrates Terry as the Nude Organist from #MontyPython’s Flying Circus. The unveiling itself saw Sir Michael Palin, Terry Gilliam, Suzy Eddie Izzard, Carol Cleveland, Nick Elphick and Sally Jones all crowd onto the stage, with speeches and a rousing rendition of the Welsh hymn Calon Lan before the crowds were able to finally see Terry’s statue for the first time.
As Terry’s daughter Sally Jones shared, “The day has been such a wonderful celebration of Dad’s life, everyone made such an effort with their costumes, and I got to talk to so many about what an effect Dad had on their lives."
We were delighted to be invited to have a stall on the day and to speak with so many people celebrating Terry’s legacy. A huge thank you to everyone involved in bringing such a memorable day to life.
The A Python On The Prom campaign will continue to raise funds in Terry’s name for Conwy Arts Trust and The National Brain Appeal's Rare Dementia Support Fund, including a screening of Monty Python’s The Life of Brian taking place at Theatr Colwyn, Colwyn Bay, on Saturday, 23rd May. This event will include an in-person interview and Q&A with Sally Jones and Sculptor Nick Elphick, led by Rob Shelley of ITV Wales, about the global fundraising campaign and the making of the statue. The Terry Jones statue unveiling in Colwyn Bay included silly olympics, singalongs, knights, vikings, fancy dress, Carol, Terry G and my hero Michael! 🥥
I wish I’d filmed more of the costumes people wore because the effort was outstanding! As for me, I knew I’d get to wear my Arthur Two Sheds t-shirt for something one day! 🥰

Last weekend, Colwyn Bay went gloriously Python for A Python on the Prom - a seaside tribute to Terry Jones that brought fans, performers, and plenty of absurdity to the promenade.
Michael Palin, Terry Gilliam, Carol Cleveland, Suzy Eddie Izzard, and Sally Jones all joined in to celebrate Jones’ legacy, with a newly unveiled sculpture by Nick Elphick at the centre of it all. The piece captures Terry as the infamous “nude organist,” packed with hidden references and playful details that reward a closer look.
A fitting tribute to a man who helped steer Monty Python into stranger, looser, brilliantly surreal territory - and yes, in true Python spirit, visitors are encouraged to give his backside a lucky rub.
