Reflecting on his book In Nigeria and his acclaimed Channel 5 documentary series, Michael will paint a vivid and varied portrait of a complex country. He’ll share the testimony of a kidnap victim of Boko Haram and the collective spiritual ecstasy of one of Nigeria’s mega churches, illuminating the contradictions of a country rich in natural wealth and human talent, yet grappling with corruption, religious strife, and deep inequality. Don’t meet your heroes? You can when it’s @michael.palin - we talked about the brilliant project to put up a statue to Terry Jones, plus Python as satire, going Around The World in 80 Days and being a national treasure. We also discussed putting up a statue to Michael - he’d like it to be in Sheffield but is open to ideas about what Pythonesque pose. I’m going bra and suspenders. The whole glorious interview is on @bbc5live and on my URGENT QUESTIONS podcast later #michaelpalin #ramsaymacdonald #comedy #politics

A full sofa for the Jonathan Ross recording last night. The Great Man held up the cover of my new book ā€˜In Nigeria’, publishing in May. Yet another journey, to the Philippines, made in February and March this year, will be on 5 in the autumn, with book which I’m frantically writing. Still so much to see, and I’m only 82.

šŸ‡µšŸ‡We’re SO pleased to announce the next instalment of Michael Palin’s adventures šŸ‡µšŸ‡ This time, he travels to one of the most fascinatingly complex and contradictory countries on earth: the Philippines. It’s a popular tourist destination, but also a place of extreme poverty for many. It’s a nation where religious beliefs are strongly held and divorce is illegal, but where political unrest and violence regularly mar everyday life. And, of course, it’s a country still dominated by the legacy of the Marcos family. This September, join Michael on an epic journey across the archipelago — a place of remarkable beauty, variety, and striking paradoxes. Along the way, he meets some of the warmest and friendliest people he has ever encountered. And, at the very end, finds himself closer to the Marcos family than he ever thought possible, in a meeting he never expected to have… Available to pre-order now. #MichaelPalin #travelwriting #philippines #comingsoon

From the vibrant chaos of Lagos to the seemingly deserted streets of Nigeria’s hyper-modern capital, Abuja, no two moments are alike. From Monty Python, Ripping Yarns, and The Death of Stalin to his bestselling travel books and acclaimed diaries, Michael remains one of Britain’s most beloved storytellers On-Sale Info: Thu 26 Mar 10am - Priority Booking / Friends of Fane Fri 27 Mar 10am - General Public To book your tickets for this warm and charming evening, click the link in bio or visit the Fane website.
