Thank you @sela and HM @turki for inviting me to #joyforum Music it is facing an incredible tech disruption with Gen AI, however sensible approach to a legal and ethical issue could combine copyright protection, artist choice and fair compensation, so technology can reach and provide tools but not at the cost of leaving human creation behind but actually the opposite. Thank you to my friends and colleagues @tiagotcorreia and @salosterental gurus in the matter that inspired me and deserve credit for that.

In Jan 2024 @warnermusicsouthasia and @giraffemusicpk did an iconic deal, investing in Pakistani music. During the signature ceremony I gave as a present a wonderful bottle of Spanish wine and the response was, that bottle would not be open until you come to visit us in Pakistan. It took some time, great Coke Studio 14 and 15 happened, but a promise is a promise. Thank you @mibrahim007 and @zulfiqarjkhan for your friendship and immense talent @jaymehtagram you were essential part of this and you were missed 🙏🫶🫂.

Visiting Dubai on a business trip, I passed @warnermusicme to say hello to my old team and they had this wonderful set up for me (took many pics, ate cake and kunefe). I was really moved and grateful for that … At the end what matters is how your actions as a leader made people feel …. 🙏.

Thanks @isaacmarkinson for arranging the visit. I had goosebumps thinking about being in the @nickelback label, meeting the “legend” Jon Simkin @604simkin and his label @604recordsinc …. In that studio was recorded apart all Nickelback hits, song such us “Livin’ on a Prayer” @bonjovi or “Call me maybe” @carlyraejepsen 🙌🤘

When someone is so good @zakirkhan_208 , you get him in all languages. Two hours and a half delivering a hilarious monologue… non stop, no water break …. and keeping the audience laughing and engage …. And by the way, Latin families are so similar to Indian ones, … 😂😂. Starting on Saint Valentine’s Day 2005, I’ve been for more than 20 years enjoying the privilege of working with this big Warner family, this article explains a lot what I have done /emerging-markets-and-ma-exec-alfonso-perez-soto-departs-warner-after-20-years/ but it does not explain the thrill of listening a hit for the first time, closing a deal that would bring great value, hugging an artist before going to the stage or seeing the streams growing your song to the top of the charts, but above all I keep with me memories and amazing friendships and respect from partners, artist and colleagues. I’m not sad because this moment to say goodbye has arrived, I’m happy because these 20 years happened. Not too long ago, we started from literally zero and now I can list all the great things we’ve accomplished together. We opened five new affiliates and seven offices. We struck more than a dozen investment deals with partners who’ve become family. We grew an organization from barely two dozen people to more than 400 if we count our key partners. And most importantly we’ve given hits to the world, such as ‘Jerusalema’, ‘Love Nwantiti’, ‘Rampampam’ and ‘Maan Meri Jaan’. And, in doing that, we broke records in terms of market share growth, and built a nimble and collaborative organization that delivers hundreds of millions of dollars in revenue to WMG. During all this time, my main inspiration was always you - a team of amazing professionals, who mix talent, intelligence, hard work, skills and - above all - good heart, care, team spirit and compassion. Together, we’ve achieved our goal of building a music industry infrastructure in our countries; delivering opportunities for artists; and bringing our rich and amazing cultures to the world. I know that you will continue to build on this work and you are going to do great! Serving you as President during the last six years has been the honor of my professional career.
