Some school leaders support the arts. Others build an entire school culture around them. 🎭🎶
At Dolores Gonzalez Elementary, Principal Parisa Asgharzadeh has helped create a campus where the visual and performing arts are woven into everyday learning and community life. From monthly concerts and school musicals to belonging activities that connect families and students across grade levels, creativity is always at the center.
As a proud Creative Campus, DGES brings teaching artists directly to students and provides meaningful arts experiences throughout the year. Their annual whole-school performance at the National Hispanic Cultural Center has become a signature celebration of student voice, confidence, and community, with every student taking the stage.
Thank you for championing the transformative power of the arts and for helping students feel seen, connected, and inspired every day. Hats off to this incredible leader, staff, students, and community. 👏 @dgestigers@nmartsinedyear@mindpop@abqschools
Our Preparatory String Orchestra took the show on the road yesterday to Osuna and Inez Elementary Schools to share their hard with work this semester with the students there and to encourage their peers to learn to play an instrument! In between performances our littles musicians spent some energy at a local park and then recharged their little batteries at the AYSP building with pizza, lemonade and cookies! This little orchestra has put I. The work this year and their performance at Popejoy Hall tomorrow afternoon promises to be amazing!
A full school. A full stage. A full celebration of Visual and Performing Arts 🎭
Dolores Gonzalez Elementary took their learning beyond the classroom and onto the stage at the National Hispanic Cultural Center for their annual end-of-year Variety Show. Every student performed, showcasing the music, dance, and creative work they’ve been building all year long.
As a Creative Campus, DG makes the arts a priority every single day, from weekly dance classes to live performances and hands-on experiences that build confidence and creativity.
A special thank you to the National Hispanic Cultural Center for being a valued community partner and hosting this incredible event each year. What a powerful way to celebrate students, families, and the arts.

This is the Way ⭐
Tres Volcanes Community Collaborative School brought May the 4th to life with a full school celebration centered around community, character, and a little friendly competition.
Students earned points in music class all year long through respect, participation, and teamwork, all guided by their Mandalorian core values like honor, loyalty, and protecting their community. Each class contributed to their clan, working together toward one goal.
After a close race, Clan Wren claimed the top spot and earned the Darksaber, presented by special guest Tait Fletcher (Paz Vizsla from The Mandalorian).
Huge shoutout to all the students and staff for building such a positive, creative culture. This is what it looks like when school pride, music, and community come together. @abqschools@nmartsinedyear
