A full school. A full stage. A full celebration of Visual and Performing Arts 🎭
Dolores Gonzalez Elementary took their learning beyond the classroom and onto the stage at the National Hispanic Cultural Center for their annual end-of-year Variety Show. Every student performed, showcasing the music, dance, and creative work they’ve been building all year long.
As a Creative Campus, DG makes the arts a priority every single day, from weekly dance classes to live performances and hands-on experiences that build confidence and creativity.
A special thank you to the National Hispanic Cultural Center for being a valued community partner and hosting this incredible event each year. What a powerful way to celebrate students, families, and the arts.

This is the Way ⭐
Tres Volcanes Community Collaborative School brought May the 4th to life with a full school celebration centered around community, character, and a little friendly competition.
Students earned points in music class all year long through respect, participation, and teamwork, all guided by their Mandalorian core values like honor, loyalty, and protecting their community. Each class contributed to their clan, working together toward one goal.
After a close race, Clan Wren claimed the top spot and earned the Darksaber, presented by special guest Tait Fletcher (Paz Vizsla from The Mandalorian).
Huge shoutout to all the students and staff for building such a positive, creative culture. This is what it looks like when school pride, music, and community come together. @abqschools@nmartsinedyear
Artist Spotlight!
Name: Joaquin Jurado
Age: 17
School: VHS
Nominated by: Mr. Andrade
What are you a fan of?Collaborative teamwork and community
What are you not a fan of? I don’t like selfishness
Favorite thing about photo/video: Shining the spotlight on people and seeing their reactions to the finished product
Accomplishments in photo: Produced and filmed multiple videos
Future plans: Bring more people into the photo and film community, inspire others to pick up a camera, and bring their artistic vision into projects. Also creating a production team for Valley High
Do you have a favorite type of photo, video, or music? I enjoy portraits and fashion photography. My favorite type of video is music videos
Fun fact about you that most people don’t know? Once you get to know me, you’ll see there’s a wide variety of opportunities I can offer
Role model: Is there someone you look up to, like a role model? Why do you admire them? Nipsey Hussle. He was all about the hustle, and his documentaries are inspiring. I also look up to him because I want to set a strong example for my little brother and see him be successful
What other things do you like to do after school and on weekends? I like making beats and producing music. I also like checking out events happening around the city on weekends
What do you want to do when you are older? I want to start a business, preferably in media, and eventually expand into clothing and other related products
Advice from Joaquin: A lot of people say go for your dreams and that no one will stop you, but many people end up stopping themselves. Don’t worry about what others think. Focus on what you can do for yourself and your future @vikingsvalley@etfatvhs@abqschools@nmartsinedyear@philmprojectguy
Part 2!
Ever wondered what it feels like to sit inside an orchestra? 🎻
We’re taking you there.
The Volcano Vista Orchestra, under the direction of Jeremiah Neely, performs Flight of the Ice Dragon with a multi-cam setup that puts you right in the middle of the ensemble. From a GoPro head-mounted perspective to sweeping crane shots and angles from within the group, this is a performance you don’t just watch… you experience.
Huge credit to these students for their focus, musicianship, and energy. This kind of performance doesn’t happen without serious dedication.
The full piece of music is on our youtube! Trimmed down here for socials.
What did you think? How did they do? 👇

A quick look inside this morning at Atrisco Heritage 🎥
From the energy in the room to the performances in the gym, it was clear that Fine Arts played a big role in bringing this assembly to life. Moments like this highlight how the arts help build school culture and give students a voice.
Great job to everyone involved 👏 @atriscoheritageacademyhs@abqschools@ahacolorguard_@ahaprideband@ahadrumline

Thank you to everyone who helped organize this event, to the students for putting your work out into the world, and to the Beats Club from LCHS for bringing the music and energy.

What is Metro Merit Night?
Last night at Berna Facio, our community showed up to celebrate and support student artists from across the district. Through “Merits,” guests were able to directly invest in student creativity, making it a night full of art, music, and inspiration. @abqschools@nmartsinedyear@cibola.guitar@sandiaarea@koat7
