NIME Conference at Tivoli in Utrecht, New Interfaces for Musical Expression, what a treat!
I was invited to play my ‘Fello‘ to the community of artists, engineers and musicians, and also to speak the keynote together with Kristina Andersen:
‘Unarchiving The Hands’, about Michel Waisvisz‘ gestural controller of the 1980s, presenting some of my research and foreshadowing my book release ‘The STEIM Touch’ via Goldsmiths Press in 2026.

HUNDEHERZ (heart of a dog) by Michail Bulgakov, the premiere at Schauspielhaus Hamburg took place this weekend, we’ll play many more shows in 2026. What a ride this production has been… I play the Fello system and many other instruments, embodying the deceased rebel and street musician ‘klimbim’ who donates his brain to the dog. My remix for Ali Dada out today on @ynfnd_records ! @alidadadadadada are the band who made the brilliant album SUM two summers ago... I combined their guitar hooks with an old organ I recorded in the blackforest. it’s almost beat-less (drops late) and space-echoed-out - hope you enjoy this as much as I had fun making it! link in bio
when the music is over…. 🪄🥁sounds like a jazz drummer playing a brush groove, and every record is different in the end loop - i’m using it as the basic ingredient for new grooves

Some pics of the opening performance of Carbon Negative at Sophiensaele Berlin yesterday. It’s great fun to share the stage with Konradin Kunze. The piece is the result of a two month research phase about the carbon credit market with our creative collective @flinn_works and inputs from experts in the field. More shows are running here until 9/6/2025, we also come to Kassel and Hamburg in autumn.
ℂ𝕒𝕣𝕓𝕠𝕟 ℕ𝕖𝕘𝕒𝕥𝕚𝕧𝕖 is a performance that attempts to be CO2 neutral.
The utopia, hypocrisy and paradoxes in the carbon credit system is the content of the performance which we have developed with @flinn_works at @sophiensaele this summer. In the next weeks, the piece will tour to Kassel, Hamburg, and Frankfurt.
Konradin Kunze and I play inside a laboratory bubble, and we research into algae, carbon capture & storage and - of course - planting trees:

@antioddo ist Klangkünstler, Komponist und Performer. Im Zentrum seiner Arbeit steht die Erforschung von experimentellen Mensch-Maschine-Schnittstellen in der elektronischen Musik: Als Künstler performt er mit seinem selbstentwickelten Sensorbogen „Fello“, der seinen Cellobogen in ein gestisches Klanggerät verwandelt. Ausserdem baut er interaktive Klanginstallationen und schafft Echtzeit-Sounddesign-Settings für Tanz- und Theateraufführungen.
Beim @detect_classic_festival war Andi schon häufiger als Artist dabei – umso mehr freuen wir uns, ihn beim ersten Between Mountains begrüssen zu dürfen!

Andi Otto is a sound artist, composer and performer. His work centres on the exploration of experimental human-machine interfaces in electronic music: as an artist, he performs with his self-developed sensor bow „Fello“, which transforms his cello bow into a gestural sound device. He also builds interactive sound installations and creates real-time sound design settings for dance and theatre performances.
Andi has been a frequent artist at the @detect_classic_festival - so we’re all the more delighted to welcome him to the first Between Mountains!
