I rarely post anything on here, but I'd be remiss not to document some of the highlights of my year, considering this year has been a wild one. Last November our first beer of the 'Bronx Culture Series' collaborations with
@gunhillbrewery ,
@bronxbeerhall , and
@beerkulture was released. It was Fall/Winter beer inspired by my mothers Candied Yams recipe which was super special to me because it was a recipe so many people loved, while also being an homage to her. Those who know my mother know she's a magical human being. This beer paved the way for a series of releases that would prove to be monumental in the NYC beer scene. We started the year off strong in January collabing with
@bigalicebrewing &
@pmdpitorro , brewing a Puerto Rican inspired recipe, and barrel aging that beer in Port Morris Pitorro barrels. Sorry, humble brag but- that is a historical, and legendary collective coming together, for those who don't know. The liquid was set to release during the annual PR Day Parade, to raise money for PR. The parade didn't happen but we still rocked the culture, and produced our best beer to date- 'palante'. Although many of our plans were halted, we still released our spring collab 'Mister Stoutee' with the Legendary
@mrsofteetruck during quarantine. And we didn't slow down, releasing 'Coco Cherry Mango' - a collaboration with the legendary
@deliciosococohelado_ , and the forementioned folks during the summer. These beers where milestones for my team
@uptownbeersociety and I because we captured nostalgia in a can with these iconic NY heavy weights, and we brought a lot of joy to people during these dark times. Before the pandemic I was working at The Grand Delancey, and we were killing it, regarded as one of the best bars in NY. Post pandemic work there was limited and I decided to take a GM position at a vegan spot in Bushwick- 'The Gradient'. With an incredible team behind me, we were able to create one of the coolest destinations in BK, and against all odds we made magic. Unfortunately, do to matters beyond us, we had to close our doors permanently when they announced the second indoor shutdown. Work aside, this year was full of growth and reflection. #blessed
