Shhhh....- The Foragers are coming to Pilar! ✨🌿 Together with @vub_crosstalks , Pilar organises two workshops during the exhibition period. You can sign up via the link in bio! 𝑴𝑶𝑵 𝟐𝟕 𝑨𝑷𝑹: 𝑭𝒐𝒓𝒂𝒈𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝑪𝒂𝒎𝒑𝒖𝒔 / 5PM Get to know the campus in a different way through the edible plants growing here. Foraging has long been, and still is in many places, a way of eating and living with what a place provides. In this session, discover a practical way to explore sustainability and feel more connected 🌷 𝑾𝑬𝑫 𝟐𝟎 𝑴𝑨𝒀: 𝑴𝒆𝒔𝒔𝒚 𝑺𝒆𝒔𝒔𝒊𝒆: 𝑫𝒚𝒆𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒕𝒆𝒙𝒕𝒊𝒍𝒆𝒔 𝒘𝒊𝒕𝒉 𝒑𝒍𝒂𝒏𝒕 𝒑𝒊𝒈𝒎𝒆𝒏𝒕𝒔 / 6 PM Workshop with artist Annelotte Lammertse on plant-based natural textile dyeing. The Messy Sessie ateliers at Pilar are low-key workshops where we draw, stitch, doodle, cut, glue, and make a bit of a mess together. On May 20, we’re joined by artist Annelotte Lammertse for a hands-on session with dye plants: plants traditionally used to make natural dyes. Together, we’ll extract pigments from plants and dye textiles with natural dyes. We’ll prepare a natural pigment and dye bath on site, and you’ll dip your fabric in natural plant pigments to build up color. Fabrics will be present, but you can bring a piece of fabric (or a garment) you’d like to dye. Natural fibres like wool, or silk work best. 🌿🌿🌿🌿🌿

Fluid Futures warmly invites you to: ‘Career Pathways in Artistic Research: Going Beyond Boundaries’ 29th April 2026 13:00 - 16:00 CET, Ghent and Live Agora (hybrid) Alexianenplein 1, 9000 Ghent How does a PhD in the arts make an artist? How do artists shape their academic future from or within academia’s margins? How to keep practice and research in balance? To pursue an academic career in artistic research, scholars often encounter structural barriers. These barriers concern foremost an epistemological ambiguity that is operative between artistic presentation and academic publishing, or between valorisation of research outcomes and translation of the work into other research fields. Equally high demands of excellence in both the work, the research and the general sustainability of both can set off or discourage artist-researchers to plot their career pathways. This session is set up to uncover and encourage a research climate in which the structural barriers are made porous and sustainable pathways can be crafted more consciously. @lara_bongard @annelottel @anja.veirman @annapuschel Register here: https://icts.kuleuven.be/apps/onebutton/registrations/1455972

Starting 2026 by reflecting back on the first activities of the @luca.schoolofarts SIT-PLU Lab – a collaboration hub where neighbours, educators, farmers, activists & students co-create regenerative practices of care, ecology, and belonging. Throughout the year, we organize activities aligned with the seasonal rhythms of the site of Ter Beken. We kicked off last September with a Harvest festival, afterwards followed a two-part workshop with first year students of the @textiel_lucagent department, a workshop by Ibrahim Traoré around roots and fire, and we closed the year with a day of dreaming around the winter solstice with @mariekemckenna and the short film by @aniarenna Rooted in the Zapatista idea of “a world where many worlds fit,” SIT-PLU brings together artists, researchers, and communities to tackle today’s socio-ecological challenges through local, creative, and collective practices. We’re now in hibernation but will be back with our next activity around the Spring Equinox, which will be all about seeds. Stay tuned, happy wintering! ❄️ Photography by @lara_bongard @jonathandemaeyer @margoveeckman Situated Residencies (SIT-RES) @zemos98 , @idensitat , @lungomare_bozen_bolzano , @baltanlaboratories Pluriverse Labs (PLU-LABS) @luca.schoolofarts - LUCA, @einabcn - Eina, @mheste_deseeea - VAL·Lab (UPV) Practices of Encounter (PR-EN) @floatinguniversity #SITPLU #CreativeEurope #Pluriverse #SituatedPractices “Funded by the European Union. 🌞 Rośliny i ludzie tworzą jedno połączone, współodpowiedzialne za siebie środowisko. W końcu to dzięki nim nasz gatunek zaczął prowadzić osiadły tryb życia.

THE SCOPE OF STORIES: TRACING VERNACULAR LANDSCAPES / Exhibition at @blanco_platform curated by @jonathandemaeyer As part of the exhibition The Scope of Stories, the project Tracing the Roots of Colour: Dye, Food, and Ecological Narratives is a collaboration between myself and @annelottel . The exhibition, gathers artists working between rural and urban contexts, with a focus on ecology, food, and human connection. Through fiction and documentary forms, it traces the many narratives rooted in vernacular landscapes. Tracing the Roots of Colour originated in a 2023 workshop held at Kasteel Ter Beken, where first-year Textile Design students from @luca.schoolofarts were invited to engage directly with the Dye Garden of campus Ter Beken. Working with plants such as woad, yarrow, sorrel, chamomile, Jerusalem artichoke, and rhubarb, students explored the plants’ symbolic, culinary, and historical meanings. They dyed textiles, prepared dishes like sorrel soup and rhubarb compote, and wrote short, plant-based stories, which were printed onto the dyed napkins. These elements culminated in a collective table scenography—shared through food and storytelling. The project bridges Annelotte’s research into urban dye ecologies and the fragile layers of our natural landscapes with my exploration of memory, ancestral knowledge, migration, and cross-cultural food narratives. As presented within The Scope of Stories, it embodies an evolving dialogue between land, craft, and the stories we carry. Student contributions by: Frida Luyckx, Sam McKendy, Ella Rogge, Ulrike Rutten, Juliette Stragier, Josefien Vandenborre, Anouck Vanraes, Marten Voets, Julie Boodt, Soetkin Claeys, Loes De Blieck, Simon De Bosscher, Fleur de Vries, Aytül Durmaz, Gloria Genoe, Cennet Kayaalp, Zsa-Zsa Leye. Big shout out to this amazing group of women from Yper. They come together every week to do handwork. For the piece Coloured Shadows I had the pleasure to work with them. Together we made embroideries on a series of six smaller textile bags that are cut out from a bigger woven Jacquard piece. Six letters, six leaves, send to a loved one. Each of them containing plants and stories from the woman and the natural area of the Verdronke Weide in Yper. The area where the weavers and dyers used to live and work from the 12th to the 14th century. @ypermuseum @hetperron Expo I try to imagine how your texture felt like

Sunday, 17th Sep. 17.00-20.00 @broei.be Warm welcome to the opening and diner of the project Moving Grounds 17th Sep @Broei an initiative of Vincent Rennie @vrbiofab and me. During the past six months a series of workshops has been organized around the spontaneous vegetation of Ghent in collaboration with @minus.one , @draad.lab and Broei. Through walks, talks, drawing, dyeing and weaving, we worked towards a speculative flag for the city. Before the big flag goes outside @019 we would like to invite you to conclude the process together with a communal meal. The dinner is made in collaboration with @lara_bongard and @kapinga.j.muela_kabeya , among others, and is inspired by the walks, the stories, the colours, and the vanished knowledge around the different plants. Would you like to join us for dinner? Please sign up through the link or send me a dm. The cost for the meal is 15 euros (with Uitpas 6 euros). Or send a message if you would like to help preparing the dinner. The evening will open with a performance "I dreamed that all my friends" by @ida_gautama and Marius Huguenin-Dumittan. Combining poetry, songs, soundscapes and music, the piece takes the audience on an imaginative journey to a desolate, apocalyptic place, where two people seem to meet. In addition to the flag, Broei's expo space will display a photo series by young creators who have spent the past few months creating portraits of the various residents of the city. BROEI Adres: Nieuwland 69 9000 Gent Program: 17:00 Doors open exhibition + opening drinks 17:30 – 18:00 performance ‘I dreamed that all my friends’ 18:30 – 20:00 Start diner The project is generously supported by Alles Kan @alles_kan_gent Thanks to @hierna_vzw @minus.one @draad.lab @019ghent @alles_kan_gent and all the participants.
