An excerpt of our written work produced as a part of our thesis project Strøget,- is published in Arkitekten 10/2025 @arkitekten.dk The excerpt examines the main shopping street as a new periphery in the center. …………..On Strøget, the periphery exists between chain stores, souvenirs, and fountains. It emerges in consumerism’s general expansion but local collapse. If a traditional city centre is associated with expectations of classic authenticity and norms, the periphery must be free from such associations. This provides for an openness to rethink what a commercial street in the centre might look like today. Link to the article : https://arkitektforeningen.dk/arkitekten/gaden-vi-elsker-at-hade-the-street-we-love-to-hate/ The original written work was printed as 3,3 meter receipt. In the text we begin at Rådhuspladsen and walk the 1,1 kilometre route to Kongens Nytorv. In the work, we explore porosity as an architectural quality, collecting and Sianne Ngai’s theory of the gimmick as approaches to understanding a complex place. Ps. go see the Christmas spectacle at Strøget and happy holidays !

Edge zone 1:20 and 1:100 Part of our thesis project Strøget,- Working with ambivalence, stacking, erasing boundaries and challenging the commercial order of the shopping street. The edge zone can be seen as the street’s gutter, a place that accumulates waste, but also a zone that makes space for the things and fragments that would otherwise drift away. Our addition involves reopening the existing building’s corner so that the square once again connects with the street. Two plateaus are established, along with a new shop entrance and a reworking of the square’s surface. We see the addition as something between stage, square, and intentional gutter. The increasing turnover of tenants on Strøget likewise results in more frequent replacement of shop materials and surfaces. The discarded materials of Strøget are used in the plateaus and the square as a composition, stacking, and accumulation. The collection of the edge zone confronts us with the ambivalent, as the large amounts of material are a confrontation with overconsumption, while at the same time representing a way of valuing by juxtaposition. In our addition the edge zone is expanded to make space for the things which otherwise drifts. @kglakademi_kka

Backroom 1:50 Part of our thesis project Strøget,- Working with ambivalence, wrapping, flickering boundaries and utilizing the commercial street as an attraction. With the addition Backroom, we wish to accommodate and make use of Strøget’s premise as a shopping street, while proposing an alternative way of using commercial leases in combination with housing. It encourages a new form of local and alternative way of living, as the smaller leases combined with housing allow for a different type of resident and business owner along Strøget. Each floor is organized around a private core at the back, a shared space in the middle, and commercial space facing the street. The shared space can be integrated as part of the shops, and the shops can likewise be used as shared or private areas after closing hours. The outdoor balconies function as hybrids between private terraces and a public street space. @kglakademi_kka

Geofilosofi – ORBI’s Hus del II This year’s Summer School at ORBI: We built a bell tower as a fragment of our dream house, made bricks, constructed an oven at 1:3 scale, nailed shingles onto the drying barn, forged hinges, and spent time learning and reflecting on geophilosophy, scalability, and much more. Thank you to all the participants for all your effort and inspiring minds!

Passage 1:100 Part of our thesis project Strøget,- At samle det spredte. Strøget is the main shopping street in Copenhagen. Working with ambivalence, porosity, foam and maintenance of the street as an architectural attraction. The project takes its starting point in the current state of Copenhagen’s pedestrian street, as a commercial street in a time of change. We propose an alternative understanding of Strøget through three additions. With a caring but critical gaze, we aim to preserve the street’s inherent ambivalence - an ambivalence found in the open-minded, beloved, yet also hyper-commercialized space. Strøget has the built-in potential to gather what is scattered. To be continued…
