I don’t post about this part much, but @pqp.photo caught me in the act so I thought maybe I should for once! I get to help people start. I get to help people feel more confident. I get to help people feel realize they CAN. I get to see them become a version of themselves they haven’t been yet. Coolest job ever? Yeah 🄰 I had people be that for me in my story, and I’m grateful to be in those shoes now. @comptrain_natick

Inspired by watching my friends challenge themselves at Hyrox last month, I officially registered for the Cambridge Half Marathon on the ride home. Two weeks before the race, @naatg28 decided she wanted to run with me. A half marathon is twice the distance of the longest race I’d ever run, so I was nervous but ready to just see what happened if I tried. Nat and I ran together, stride for stride, dodging other runners, (all while my headphones were dead after Mile 2) with a goal of running as long as I could until I needed to walk. I kept waiting for that moment to come, but it never did. I kept measuring how far we’d gone by comparing it to other runs: 5k done! 10k done, time to do it again! 1 Turkey Trot left! A 5k left! Last mile!! The last 3 miles were where it got hard, and the last mile was the hardest, but we never stopped running. There’s a whole story about our finishing time that makes the whole experience absolutely insane, and I’ll share that another day. I’m just so grateful to Nat for her support and belief in me from Day 1. Newport Half Next? šŸƒā€ā™€ļøšŸƒā€ā™€ļø

My mom said ā€œI’ll sign up for a 10k if you doā€ and we did. I decided I wanted to actually TRAIN for this one, since all the 5ks I’ve done have been the wake-up-and-hope-for-the-best method. I followed a plan with @runna and for 11 weeks, I ran 3x/week in addition to making Committed Club at @ctne.gym two months in a row. The first week, 10k felt so daunting. On race day, I PR’d my 5k, 5 Mile, AND 10k time all in one run!! Well… this wont be the last.

Getting outside and going for a walk or a run used to be a way for me to deal with intense emotions in a way that wasn’t alcohol. At first, I could barely run a half mile. Today, I ran my first 10k race ever with my mom and my sister, and my husband, Dad, brother in law, and my wonderful friend Laura on the sidelines. I ran 6.2 miles without stopping and negative split times!!! After all the training hours, miles, meters, and ounces of water, I PR’d my 5k time, my 5 Mile time, AND my 10k time. šŸŽ‰šŸŽ‰šŸŽ‰ (thank you @runna !) Getting to this point wouldn’t have been this awesome without being surrounded by some the best humans on the planet - in person, through texts, Strava, @ctne.gym , and more. It feels so good to have people like you in my corner 🄹🫶
