For you, Jasiri. Love you forever 💙 Besides trauma bonding in the service industry, Doctor Who was one of the first things @jasirigram and I bonded over. His favorite Doctor was 12, Peter Capaldi. I wrote this essay back in January, when I was sharing his GoFundMe to help cover his medical expenses. All day long yesterday, I spent the day breaking it down into a slide show, he was just on my heart all day long. Right around the time I had almost finished, I got the call that he had died. I set the video to 12’s theme song, which I feel is fitting for my friend. I’m so grateful you’re not in pain anymore, and I miss you terribly. I’ll be waiting for you to pick me up in the Tardis any time 💙 — Slide deck: https://canva.link/jasiri Youtube Link: https://youtu.be/uBmnekuAYdE

In this moving moment from “All’s Well That Ends Well”, the Countess calls Helena her daughter — a declaration that Helena resists, even as love and status collide. The Countess gently reminds her that the bond may soon be made official: “Nay, a mother—why not a mother? When I said a mother, methought you saw a serpent.” 🌹🌳

Performed in parks across New York City as part of New York Classical Theatre’s all-free 2025 summer season, this scene captures the humor, tenderness, and emotional depth that make Shakespeare timeless.

Featuring Carine Montbertrand as the Countess and Anique Clements as Helena. Directed by Stephen Burdman.

I am so blessed and fortunate to have such supportive family, friends, colleagues, and teachers. Over my years as a working artist, every project I have been a part of has been a learning experience, deeply fulfilling, and an opportunity that I have been so grateful for. I don’t take it lightly that I am able to act in NYC and around the country. It truly is a dream, made possible only through support, belief in my abilities, so much prayer, hard work on my part, together with holding on with a hope that never fails. I’m so very grateful for the people who have come into my life, without whom I’d never have been able to realize even one of my dreams. I’m so grateful for language, and art, and imagination, and ✨life✨. I pray and look forward to creating more, but even if I never get a single other opportunity, I have been so blessed ❤️. I have SO MANY unposted photos from work I’ve done over the past few years. One day I’ll make better use of this Instagram, aha, but til then, here is a piece of art that I am still in awe of. “A Midsummer Night’s Dream (as told by the Mechanicals)” captured in caricature form by @squigsrobertson . And thank you, Helena/Peter Quince. You were the hybrid character my heart never knew it needed. See you again sometime, some form, in a dream ❤️
