Proud to share that 𝘍𝘦𝘮𝘮𝘦𝘴 𝘥’𝘈𝘨𝘢𝘥𝘦𝘻, the new short documentary by Eva van Tongeren, will be premiering at the 42nd Kurzfilm Festival Hamburg (@kurzfilm_hamburg ) in june, in a beautiful feminist program!
𝘍𝘦𝘮𝘮𝘦𝘴 𝘥’𝘈𝘨𝘢𝘥𝘦𝘻 weaves testimonies of three courageous women in Agadez, a desert city shaped by geopolitical pressure and Europe’s border policies. Through their voices, we witness a lived feminism grounded in solidarity, community, and everyday resistance.

Join us this Monday for the avant-première of Eva van Tongeren's new film, Femmes d'Agadez. She will present her film together with the Nigerien western Return of an Adventurer (1966) by Moustapha Alassane, a pioneer of African cinema. We offer everyone a Nigerien snack.

We welcome you for the avant-première of Femmes d’Agadez!
Agadez is weighed down by geopolitical interests and the harsh European border policy. Online, I met Amina Weira, a Nigerien filmmaker. Together, we searched for a way of filming that would make this cruel policy visible. For six years, we collected images remotely, Femmes d’Agadez is the result of these years of exchange, research and resistance.
I decided to present Femmes d’Agadez together with Return of an Adventurer (1966) by Moustapha Alassane, a pioneer of African cinema and one of the few, well-known filmmakers from Niger. Return of an Adventurer is a beautifully shot Western; a sun-drenched dark comedy examining masculinity, macho culture, violence and the glorification of the American film genre.
We offer everyone a Nigerien snack. :)

Throwback to our celebration with the ever-growing Animal Tank family at @cinema.galeries for our newest animated shorts: 𝘵𝘸𝘰 𝘪𝘤𝘦 𝘤𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘮𝘴 𝘱𝘭𝘦𝘢𝘴𝘦, 𝘔𝘦𝘭𝘬 and 𝘛𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘪𝘴 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘤𝘢𝘱𝘵𝘢𝘪𝘯 𝘴𝘱𝘦𝘢𝘬𝘪𝘯𝘨.
From flying over city skies to drifting into the rainforest and somehow never leaving the village again, these films take you straight into full-on (fever) dream territory.
We somehow brought it all to life on screen… So huge shoutout to our amazing writer-directors, their cast and crew, and everyone who brought their magic to the table. Thanks for the flight!! 🫶
