Great article in the New York Times - link in the comments. When I returned to modelling a couple years ago, it was driven by a couple things. A major health event had me seeking a different way to express myself. And witnessing ageism in advertising firsthand motivated me to showcase that aging and vitality are not at odds. I’m happy to see that age diversity is picking up some momentum, at least in the world of fashion. Fresh cut! And 5 years of embracing my natural salt n pepper hair. Someone complimented me on my hair the other day and asked how difficult it was to grow out. And I remembered that though I had started the process during the pandemic with short-ish hair, going bald through chemo really pushed it along. I mean, I was bald, but I didn’t experience the toughest part of the transition in my day-to-day. I wonder how I would have dealt with the grow out if I had long hair? Anybody?
