Did you know polar bears can swim for hours at a timeāsometimes covering more than 60 miles in a single stretch using their powerful front paws to navigate icy Arctic waters?
Today we feature two remarkable images of polar bears by Andy Mann (@andy_mann ) and Martin Gregus (@mywildlive ), both included in our global campaign, The Nature of Hope: The World Jane Goodall Inspired, created in partnership with @Vital.Impacts and the @JaneGoodallInst .
Andy reflects, āI remember lowering my camera for a moment, overwhelmed by the weight of it all: the fragility, the power, the undeniable truth that I was witnessing something vanishing. In that instant, the story stopped being about the thrill of the chase or the beauty of the imageāit became about responsibility.ā
Polar bears are highly intelligent, curious animals uniquely adapted to life on Arctic sea ice. As sea ice continues to decline due to warming temperatures, their survival is increasingly impacted by a rapidly changing environment. These images invite both admiration and awareness, and a reminder that protecting fragile ecosystems requires continued attention and action.

Part 1 of 3: From a 60-mile open water crossing to one of the most legendary dive destinations in the worldāthis is just the beginning.
Join Andy Mann, ocean photographer and filmmaker, in Bimini, Bahamas as he sets out to capture powerful moments beneath the surface and connect people to an ecosystem unlike any other.

A special run of shows with a special groupāaāfellas. Thanks for showing up, Colorado, and selling these out for us. Itās an honor to share these tunes with all of yāall. Some stories just canāt be told with a camera and I appreciate the space you all hold for me to share them in songs. Lots of love to @reedfoehl@eliandwest@eaglebows - yāall make it so fun and easy - always have. It takes a long time to make old friends, indeed. @colorado_chautauqua@niwothall š·: @sarah.eileen
Art is our passion. Conservation is our purpose. Here, in the ghost light of the Arctic, we find ourselves at the cross roads. After a magical week at @flokistudios we learned a lot from the local community and we stand with the people of Iceland to protect Icelandās biodiversity and coastal ecosystems for future generations.
Swipe through to watch the short film.
Icelandās aquaculture draft bill still allows the expansion of seaācage salmon farming. Sign the petition at LetsUndoThis.com to stand with the 63% of Icelanders who oppose sea cages and urge Parliament to strengthen the bill by adding three guardrails:
āļø Phase out sea cages
āļø Stop new seaācage licenses
āļø Transition to closed or landābased systems
Every signature and share helps secure a stronger future for Iceland and wild Atlantic salmon.

Some fun #bts working with the Juan Fernandez fur seals on Robinson Crusoe Island, Chile and chatting with good friend and legend @peterniada . Big thanks to @max_bello for showing me this special place and making me feel like part of the family here over the years. Shooting this expedition underwater with @sonyalpha #a1 allows me to get both 8K video and 50mp images effortlessly in wild situations like this. We continue to champion Chile to announce the expansion of protections in these fragile waters in 2026. #sonyartisanofimagery @costasunglasses@finisterre@bluemarinefoundation š„ @kyle.roepke
@dr.sylviaearle at 90 years young. Pure joy. I recently traveled back to Juan Fernandez Islands, Chile with Sylvia exactly 60 years after her first visit to the archipelago. In 1965, she rediscovered the last few remaining endemic fur seals, which at the time were thought to be extinct, and led to the islandās first protections. This is the moment she surfaced from our first dive after swimming with thousands of them. A moment Iāll ever forget and the reason why I do what I do. Ocean conservation works. We continue to fight to further protections in the region so that these animals can bring joy to generations to come. @costasunglasses images shot on @sonyalpha #a7rv #sonyartisanofimagery
š The Juan FernĆ”ndez Archipelago is home to one of the worldās most unique marine mammals ā the Juan FernĆ”ndez fur seal, found nowhere else on Earth.
In 1964, this species was believed to be extinct. Thanks to decades of protection and the care of the islandās community, its population has rebounded ā today, there are more than 160,000 individuals across the Juan FernĆ”ndez and Desventuradas archipelagos. š¦š
Now, that same community is leading a proposal to expand marine protection across 360,000 km², safeguarding critical habitats and species from threats such as industrial fishing and climate change.
Implementing this initiative would allow Chile to conserve over half of its Exclusive Economic Zone and would create one of the largest community-led Marine Protected Areas in the world, solidifying Chileās reputation as a global leader in ocean conservation.

Another year of inaction for marine conservation in the Southern Ocean. The countries entrusted to protect Antarcticaās wildlife continue to fail to overcome political and commercial interests - while Antarctica warms three times faster than anywhere else on the planet and wildlife extraction threatens to disrupt the ecosystem.
Two weeksā worth of discussions at the annual meeting for the Convention for the Conservation of Antarctic Marine Living Resources (CCAMLR) in Tasmania, have concluded and once again failed to deliver meaningful conservation progress for Antarcticaās wildlife.
Antarctic krill fishing by a handful of countries is threatening the foundation of the ecosystem, krill, a species that is relied upon by whales, penguins, seabirds, and seals. Norway takes the vast majority of the krill and one Norwegian company is responsible for around two-thirds of all the krill caught, and still, thatās not enough. Itās this drive to profit from the extraction of Antarcticaās wildlife that has hindered progressing conservation.
CCAMLR was established to protect Antarcticaās wildlife, not to allow the exploitation of one of our last wildernesses for profit. Voices from around the world are asking how much longer can we trust countries that profit from extracting Antarctic wildlife to deliver on their conservation mandate?

Have you ever seen surfing seals? What an incredible thing to witness from every angle. Here on Robinson Crusoe island in the Juan Fernandez Islands of Chile, this remote colony lines up all day long. I had to hike to the top of the cliff to look down to really get the full show. What a special place! Shot on #sonyalpha #a7rv with 28-70mm f2 and the lightweight 200-600. Super excited about these new @costasunglasses #untangledcollection which are made from discarded fishing nets collected here in #Chile. #sonyartisanofimagery #costaambassador
šš Happy World Octopus Day!
Today we celebrate these extraordinary creatures, honoring their cleverness, mystery, and resilience.
Beneath the swaying kelp forests, octopuses move with fluid intelligence, blending seamlessly into their surroundings and adapting in ways that inspire awe. Their ability to change color and texture in an instant is a testament to the incredible creativity of life beneath the waves.
These masters of disguise remind us of the oceanās brilliance and the delicate balance of marine life.
As a @SeaLegacy Ambassador, witnessing and protecting these amazing beings fills me with wonder and a deep sense of responsibility. Celebrating the octopus today reminds me why safeguarding the oceans is a mission I carry with pride and heart. š
