In the last few years, San Clemente has become one of my favorite cities in California. There’s so much charm and I love how many special little homes there are here. I especially love these classic Ole Hansen dwellings.

The age old question. Shoot with the lights on or lights off?
I usually make the decision based on the design and especially lighting design of each individual home.
Some spaces are optimized for natural light and others aren’t. I prefer lights off, but sometimes it just makes sense to keep them on especially if there’s enough natural light to still let the home speak for itself.
It never hurts to have a conversation before a shoot if you feel strongly about doing it a certain way.

I can’t really think of the last time I gleefully arose from bed to hit the road for a sunrise shoot, but once the sun starts doing what it does, that always changes.

What light do you like more?
Here we are. Another end to another year and for me this one is a particularly special year because as we step in to 2026, I will officially enter my 20th year of as a professional photographer of homes.
I can’t believe it’s been this long. I almost can’t think of life before any of it and while I have so many amazing things to look back on from the most awe-inspiring properties, to literally the best clients anyone could ever ask for, to being able to see the world because of a camera, or growing a business with my incredible wife, there’s one thing that has stood out more than anything else.
I’ve met so many wonderfully fantastic humans on the same path as me. People with so much drive, dedication, and innovation who constantly push me to be a better person. This photography community is unrivaled. Thanks a lot in part to @shiftercom and @arturo.and.lauren . (Wish I had a pic with you guys saved)
It’s been an incredible journey and I feel so fortunate to have had such a good time shooting with and making friends with so many powerhouses in the industry and feel so privileged to have had the opportunity to mentor some of them along the way.
I hope you all have the best 2026. Keep on inspiring!
PS - If you have some photos of us together, please send them over. I’d love to have them in my memories album.

Also just found out there’s a limit to how many folks you can tag in a post. Sorry to have left some of you out.
