Meet Chase — a distinguished Labrador Retriever originally from Tiburon, California. She made her way to the desert later in life in search of sunshine, warmth, and a little relief for aging joints.
Like many who arrive at LQCC, Chase quickly embraced the slower desert rhythm … though “slow” was never really her personality.
Even in her senior years, Chase insisted on greeting everyone that came her home. No matter how stiff she may have felt that day, she always managed to pop up to say hello — tail wagging, ears perked, ready to be part of the social scene. A true club dog in every sense of the word.
And yes… the white hair around her face … Distinguished. Elegant. Earned.
She spent her final years basking in the warmth of the desert sun, greeting neighbors, making friends, and reminding everyone that grace and resilience can absolutely coexist.
We lowered the flag for Chase May 2025, but around here, legends never really leave the club. 🤍

Episode 2: Dogs of the La Quinta Country Club 🌴
Meet Joben (aka “Jojo”)—new to the desert, but already fully committed to the lifestyle. Recently relocated from Portland, Oregon, and by the look of things, he has zero regrets.
Equal parts charm and chaos, Jojo is known for his signature smile (see above), impeccable timing around treats, and his advanced-level “frog dog” pose—typically performed in direct sunlight just moments before his nap.
The desert air? Great for the sinuses.
The vibe? Even better.
This will be Jojo’s first summer in La Quinta, and while there’s some understandable hesitation… we’re confident he’ll lean in quickly—with strategic rotations between shade, AC, and any available cold surface.
Safe to say: he’s adapting just fine.

Meet Molly — seasonal resident, part-time desert socialite, full-time heartbreaker.
She splits her time between Madison, Wisconsin and La Quinta… winters in the sun, summers by the lake. A true bi-climate lifestyle.
Before heading back to Wisconsin, Molly requested a little extra time with her favorite hosts, Uncle Robert & Uncle Mario — currently negotiating an extended stay (terms include treats, sunbathing privileges, and zero curfew).
Rumor has it… she’s not entirely convinced Wisconsin is where she wants to spend this summer.

Feeling incredibly fortunate to be surrounded by this group.
We took a moment yesterday to reflect on the first quarter of 2026—and celebrate everything we’ve accomplished together.
This team shows up with bravery, enthusiasm, and a work ethic that’s hard to match.
I’m grateful every day… and yes, I still pinch myself.
First visit to Newport Beach—and it did not disappoint.
Spent the day with Mario (who doubled as driver so I could actually get some work done en route…). We ended up at what might be the largest Restoration Hardware I’ve ever seen - complete with a dining room that absolutely steals the show.
Then over to Balboa Island…slow strolls along the canal, perfect weather, and sorbetto in hand. The kind of afternoon that reminds you why people fall in love with coastal living.
Great conversations, great energy, and a reminder of how connected the coast and desert really are.
Newport—We’ll be back.

Old Town La Quinta just got a new dopamine dealer.
It’s called ½sies.
Half doughnuts.
Half ice cream.
Full psychedelic sugar joy.
Stopped in today and grabbed a dozen for some clients (purely professional reasons, obviously).
Fortunately the clients shared … Danielle’s doughnuts are excellent, the colors look like a dessert hallucination, and the whole place feels like Willy Wonka opened a new shop in the desert.
Congrats Danielle — this place is going to make a lot of people very happy.

A call from dear friends this week reminded Mario and me of our Oakland chapter.
That house gave us extraordinary neighbors, chosen family, and many long afternoons around this pool.
These days we’re happily settled in La Quinta — where the views are spectacular and the winter weather is considerably more cooperative.
But Oakland gave us friendships that will last a lifetime. Hard to beat that.
