I've been quiet for a while but I'm finally back! After the cyclocross season I found out I developed tendonitis in my hamstring. This left me unable to ride and off the bike for 7 weeks. Over the past month and a half I have been doing intensive rehab and finally started riding again 6 weeks ago and made some good progress! I am now able to ride pain free and I line up for my first road race of the season tomorrow! I still have a ways to go before I am back 100% but I'm excited to finally be back on a start line!

Worlds was far from what I hoped for this year. After getting sick during Christmas I had a solid block of training in Spain and was ready to show what I could do. Then the week of worlds I got sick, again. I did what I could but a couple days with very little food is not good prep for the biggest race of the year. Nonetheless I put that aside and raced all out, I was going to be top-15 or blow up trying. I had enough fuel for 25 minutes and then the lights went out. I'm still proud of what I showed for the first half of the race, at some point things will line up and I'll finish the job. Huge thanks to @usacycling and @mudfund for making it possible to spend 3 months in Europe, and to @cxdtrekbikes for the continued support on and off the bike. Be on the lookout for an in depth season recap on my substack soon.

At some point I will race the full Christmas block but for the second year in a row it wasn't meant to be. Back pain and illness from day 1 of the block made racing almost impossible. I decided to put a pause on racing and focus on getting fully healthy again so that I can be at my best for the World Championships at the end of the month. Huge thanks to the @mudfund and @usacycling for the continued support. Now it's off to Spain for a big training block in the sun! ☀️

Welcoming one of the world’s most exciting young cyclocross riders on to the final Sigma Sports Unplugged Podcast for the year, Matt Stephens was joined by 2025 Pan American Cyclocross Champion Andrew Strohmeyer. Dialling in from his European base in the Netherlands the duo discussed racing World Cups, funding a full European season, and chasing a professional career.
A multiple US national champion and Pan-American title holder, Andrew explains the “Mud Fund,” the impact of gravel’s boom in the US, and the technical skill gap between American and European racing.
He breaks down his impressive 12th place at the Tábor World Cup, the demands of elite cyclocross training, and why the discipline keeps pushing him to improve - before contemplating the existence of exploding goats in the Mount Airy, Maryland hometown quiz.

Me trying to figure out what happened to all the carbs I ate before the race 🤔

True off day in Namur. Was riding in the top 5 on lap one, then near the front group for 3 laps. I was relaxed and riding within myself but 20 minutes in the lights went out. Not a blow up just empty, nothing left to burn. New training has new fueling requirements, but unfortunately the only way to learn that is in a race. What I am trying to accomplish is going to take some time, but we are back on track and full steam ahead toward the Christmas block! 🚂🎄

It's been an honor to wear this jersey for the last year! Although I won't be defending my title this year, I am super excited for the opportunity to race the World Cup in Namur!! Make sure to tune in tomorrow morning for a legendary race, and good luck to everyone fighting for the jersey back home!! 🇺🇸
