(ES) 𝘏𝘢 𝘉𝘶𝘯 𝘚𝘩𝘶 (2025), resina epoxi, fibra de vidrio, acero inoxidable, fotografía. Ha Bun Shu de Mori Yuzan es el título de un libro japonés de 1919 que reúne una colección de dibujos de ondas y olas. De la misma manera, cuando el cabello se empapa de agua o sudor, las formas se agrupan en mechones diferenciados que tienden a ondularse y pegarse a la piel. Muy diferentes son las melenas secas, que casi funcionan como un todo. Veo estas melenas mojadas como conexiones, extensiones, tubos. En 𝘈 𝘴𝘸𝘦𝘢𝘵𝘺 𝘥𝘪𝘴𝘱𝘦𝘳𝘴𝘢𝘭 𝘪𝘯𝘵𝘰 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘧𝘰𝘨 @galerianeboa comisariada por @lopezblanconuria (03.07. - 12.09.2025) . (EN) 𝘏𝘢 𝘉𝘶𝘯 𝘚𝘩𝘶 (2025), epoxi resin, fibreglass, stainless steel, photograph. Ha Bun Shu by Mori Yuzan is the title of a Japanese book from 1919 that brings together a collection of drawings of waves and ripples. In the same way, when hair is soaked with water or sweat, the shapes group together in distinct strands that tend to curl and stick to the skin. Dry hair is very different, functioning almost as a whole. I see these wet strands as connections, extensions, tubes. (ES) El pasado 16 de mayo defendí mi tesis doctoral sobre la “Evolución de la Escultura Contemporánea en España (Cuerpo, Afecto, Materialidad)” en la que estuve trabajando durante 5 años gracias al apoyo de la @universidadedevigo a través de un contrato predoctoral y de una Beca de Investigación de la @depucoruna Además, tuve la oportunidad de realizar una estancia de investigación en el Departamento de Filosofía del Boston College, y en @residencyunlimited (NY) como Artista en Residencia, gracias al apoyo de @fulbright_spain y de la @culturaxunta Enormemente agradecida a mi director @tudela1960 y a las artistas y agentes culturales que me han permitido entrevistarlas. Gracias también a la @facultadebelasartes y al tribunal: María Luisa Fernández, @imazinaki y @edn.proj , así como a mi familia y a todxs lxs que os acercasteis ese día 🤍 Muestro un poquito del Estudio de Caso de Susana Solano. La tesis completa está en el Repositorio Investigo de la Universidad de Vigo. … (EN) On May 16th, I defended my doctoral thesis "The Evolution of Contemporary Sculpture in Spain (Body, Affect, Materiality)”, a project I worked on for five years thanks to the support of @universidadedevigo through a predoctoral contract and a Research Grant from @depucoruna I also had the opportunity to carry out a research stay at the Department of Philosophy at Boston College and at @residencyunlimited (NY) as an Artist in Residence, thanks to the support of @the_fulbright_program and @culturaxunta I am deeply grateful to my advisor @tudela1960 and to the artists and cultural agents who allowed me to interview them. Thanks also to @facultadebelasartes and to the thesis committee: María Luisa Fernández, @imazinaki and @edn.proj as well as to my family and everyone who came that day 🤍 Here is a small glimpse of the Case Study on Susana Solano. 𝘓𝘰𝘷𝘦 𝘎𝘭𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘛𝘦𝘴𝘵 𝘚𝘵𝘳𝘪𝘱𝘴 (sanded brass, perfume) investigates the olfactory world of the dog Mila Superstar. The Test Strips display a perfume composition determined by her sense of smell, exploring interspecies communication beyond human-centric perception. The two works explore the unseen forces shaping identity, perception, and interaction, linking human, non-human, and societal realms through invisible codes and power structures. Otherness has emerged and developed through various philosophical and social discussions. It seems that it has always been an elusive object of study; to quote Jacques Lacan: “The Other is always beyond reach, a forever receding horizon.” In this exhibition, otherness is reachable. It is an attitude imbued within the artists’ and the curation of this show. The works overlap, merge, collaborate, and cohabitate. “A Friend of a Friend of a Friend” lives through trust, intimacy, tolerance, and genuine curiosity toward one another. The exhibition, with its multiplicity displayed in a confined space, builds a scenario, it stages an everyday situation of the needing to know how to get to the other and how the other can get to you. _𝘶𝘯𝘵𝘪𝘵𝘭𝘦𝘥 (2024). Aluminium, iron, fiberglass, polyester resin. The installation explores the relationship between plant life and the human body from a tactile and sensory perspective. Through this connection, an element of nature (azaleas) is interwoven with one from popular culture (chokers, a current fashion accessory worn tightly around the neck). Translucent and fibrous materials, accompanied by metallic elements, allow light to pass through and suggest shapes and colors through their glimmers, evoking the way light filters through leaves and flowers in a garden. Ultimately, this combination of materials is linked to a vegetal way of being in the world. La instalación explora la relación entre lo vegetal y el cuerpo humano desde un plano táctil y sensorial. A partir de este vínculo, se entremezclan un elemento de la naturaleza (las azaleas) con otro de la cultura popular (las gargantillas o chokers como elemento de la moda actual, que se visten pegadas al cuello). Los materiales translúcidos y fibrosos, acompañados de elementos metálicos, permiten el paso de la luz y sugieren formas y colores a través de sus brillos, evocando la manera en que la luz se filtra entre las hojas y las flores en un jardín. Esta combinación de materiales está ligada, en última instancia, a un ser y estar vegetalmente en el mundo. #REPOST @ateliermondialart with @get__repost__app ✨ Andrea Davila Rubio (Galicia, Spain, 1995) is a Ph.D. candidate in Contemporary Art at the University of Vigo (2019-2024), Master in Research and Creation in Contemporary Art (University of the Basque Country, 2018), Bachelor in Fine Arts (University of Vigo, ES, 2017), and University Expert in Cultural Studies, Affects and Situated Knowledge (Public University of Navarra and University of the Basque Country, 2022-2023). In 2021 she continued her research at the Department of Philosophy of Boston College (Boston, USA) thanks to a Fulbright fellowship. Her artistic practice and research focus on contemporary Spanish sculpture and installation, with a particular interest in issues of corporeality and materiality. Her recent work investigates the possible mechanisms we can activate to maintain an affect, a process or a bodily gesture in time. As a resident of the international art program of the Museo de Pontevedra in Galicia, Spain, Andrea Davila Rubio is a resident at Atelier Mondial at the invitation of the Institute Art Gender Nature (IAGN) @hgkbasel_institutkunst of the HGK Basel from September 13 to December 13, 2024. September bis 30. November 2024 zu Gast im Atelier Mondial. Die aus Galicien stammende Künstlerin Andrea Davila Rubio ist Doktorandin in zeitgenössischer Kunst an der Universität Vigo (2019-2024). Sie hat einen Master in Forschung und Kreation in zeitgenössischer Kunst (Universität des Baskenlandes, 2018) und einen Bachelor in Bildender Kunst (Universität Vigo, 2017). 2021 konnte sie ihre Forschung dank eines Fulbright-Stipendiums am Department of Philosophy des Boston College (Boston, USA) fortsetzen. 2022 bis 2023 war sie Universitätsexpertin für Kulturwissenschaften, Affekte und situiertes Wissen an der Öffentliche Universität Navarra und an der Universität des Baskenlandes. Andrea Dvila Rubios künstlerische Praxis und Forschung konzentrieren sich auf die zeitgenössische spanische Bildhauerei mit einem besonderen Interesse an Fragen der Körperlichkeit und Materialität. 𝘢𝘵𝘳𝘢𝘷𝘦𝘴𝘢𝘳 𝘦𝘭 𝘫𝘢𝘳𝘥𝘪𝘯 / 𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘳𝘦 𝘭𝘢𝘴 𝘥𝘰𝘴 𝘦𝘴𝘲𝘶𝘪𝘯𝘢𝘴 A la pregunta “¿qué es el paisaje?”, podemos responder: aquello que conservamos en la memoria después de dejar de mirar, después de dejar de ejercitar nuestros sentidos en un espacio ocupado por el cuerpo. El paisaje no tiene escala, puede presentarse en lo inmenso o en lo minúsculo (Gilles Clément, Jardines, paisaje y genio natural). Hace unos días tuve la suerte de trabajar en un proyecto muy lindo buscando estructuras de diálogos y anhelos en la feria de cultura @culturgal_feira_ con dos personas a las que admiro mucho: @mgjournal @yatirfernandez Gracias especiales a la @facultadebelasartes y a @islasdifusas por hacerlo posible.
