Continue breathing. When descending, it is important to take the first breath below the surface only after attaining a certain depth. There is a risk of the regulator freezing and causing a free flow at the surface. Despite the physical stress, breaths must be slow and deep during the entire dive, because breathing too rapidly can also cause the regulator to freeze. Although the water is minus two degrees, it is significantly warmer than the air, which is well below freezing. Temperatures at which bodily functions like breathing suddenly become aware. Slowly, I release some air from my suit and slide down. The ice is so thick that it takes me a while to reach the undersurface. It takes a few moments for my eyes to get used to the darkness and to start focusing on the ice sheet from below. The pupils dilate more and more and slowly silhouettes appear, forming otherworldly landscapes. Graphics by our resident @felix_sandvoss Inspired by the software - "Security Orchestration Automation and Responses" which can be used to gather information about security threats, S.O.A.R. - Strategic Operations And Readiness was born. In both the digital program and the street dance community, a response to a threat or social change is based on shared processes and steps that repressed bodies take on and carry forward within themselves. These unfold in a collective experience. Resistance is overcome, sometimes endured, while sensibilities are explored together and spaces redefined. Questions from the first research phase: What is a resilient community? What can an inclusive city look like, which gestures from which cultures have a place in it, or still need it? Next Saturday, on the eve of Mother's Day, 13.05.23, at 18.00, Ukrainian actors of the Playback Theater invite you to the performance "With Mom about Important Things". Tell your stories and listen to mothers, daughters, grandmothers, sons - What is it like to be a child? What is it like to be a mom? - What would you truly want to talk about? What would I rather not talk about? - What would have been necessary to tell my mother when I was 5...15.... 25... 40... 75... years old? - And what would I like to ask my mother when she is 5...15...25...40...75... years old? Congrats Tomas Kleiner for being a part of „1,5 Grad“ @kunsthallema #mannheim which opens tomorrow april 5. Plants as data repositories, algae as energy sources and microorganisms as empathic dialog partners: The exhibition project "1.5 Degrees" examines the complex interplay between man, nature and technology, following a multi-voiced approach it demonstrates how the climate crisis is affecting every area of life. As part of the comprehensive exhibition, Tomas Kleiner’s installation and ongoing research work entitled „Artenübergreifende Flugübungen“ / „Flying exercises across species" will be on display. As a „performative studio" the installation inside the museum will be repeatedly reworked, supplemented and changed over the course of the exhibition. Welcome Dobrosvit to our Ando Future Studios Family. We are happy to share that a second Ukrainian help organization is now a resident of AFS, focusing on the support of by now 90 Ukrainian orphans in NRW and 4 orphanages in Ukraine (both numbers increasing). The name "Dobrosvit" means „good world“. „Support“ means on one hand materialistic help like providing the orphans with clothing, school supplies and medication but also helping foster families with administrative challenges and accommodation here in Germany. Also the the Dobrosvit community headed by the founder Inna Schilch and her co-founders David Schwitzke @finewoodworkingdusseldorf and Andrei Venglinsky offers emotional belonging, integration and beneficial activities for the kids. @freunde_kunstsammlung_nrw Klub21 zu Besuch in den Ando Future Studios. @andofuturestudios   Der erste Freunde-Termin im neuen Jahr war bereits ein richtiges Highlight! ✨ Der vom japanischen Stararchitekten Tadao Ando entworfene Tadao Ando Campus soll auf 24.000qm eine Symbiose aus High Tech, Natur, Kunst und Zukunftsvision werden. Während der Planungsphase stellt Bauherr und Investor EuroAtlantic ca. 5.000 qm Fläche einer kulturellen Zwischennutzung zur Verfügung: Die ANDO FUTURE STUDIOS sind Ort interdisziplinärer Begegnungen, die der Düsseldorfer Kreativgemeinschaft eine Plattform bietet. Dank eines Residence Programms wurde im ehemaligen Werkstattbereich des Smart Centers neuer Atelierraum für junge Kunstschaffende umgesetzt. Zu den Resident Artists zählen die Düsseldorfer Künstlerinnen und Künstler Aurel Dahlgrün, Tomas Kleiner, Daria Nazarenko sowie die Keramikkünstlerin Maxi Hoffmann. Unsere jungen Freunde hatten die Möglichkeit in die Ateliers zu schauen und mit den Künstler*innen und der Organisatorin und Kuratorin Anna Deilmann ins Gespräch zu kommen.
