10 years ago we were first screening my graduation short film in our community back in Portugal 🇵🇹 I don’t believe my London friends are super aware of this short as it was made before I knew you, but it is still, by far, the most ambitious short film I’ve ever made and I would like to celebrate ‘Eden’ today. So many mistakes, hardship and learning curves along the way but so much production value and care in every possible way. As well as the most fun and wild casting process, which I’m so proud of. People often talk about how much harder it is to work with children but I did not find that to be the case at all. And I took so much with me from these little pests (over 20 of them!) who are now young adults with lower mature voices and much much taller than me! (although a lot of them already were at the time 😮‍💨) It was an absolute pleasure and privilege to have been a part of every single one of their lives and watch their curiosity grow but also how simplistic filmmaking can be, albeit the long days and nights of the shoot! It’s trauma blended with joy and pride and I have no idea what gave me the lunacy to aim this high, because I don’t think I could ever do it again in the short form! Another grand update, fashionably late as usual, of course. 🇫🇷 Cannes! What a ride and so few pictures to prove it. So many friends missing from this and so many good stories, parties and boats. Fully recovered from the rollercoaster that was Berlinale. @andreaohland and I had a wonderful time pitching ‘Mother Nature’ at the Junior Entertainment Talent Slate hosted by @wepfilms - we specially welcome our new friends from Canada, Scotland, Ireland, South Africa, Germany, Austria, Poland, Norway, US, UK and Serbia, whom we’ll keep in our hearts and can’t wait to see grow into bigger and more awesome filmmakers together with us. The reactions we received from our pitch have been overwhelmingly positive which is just the support we needed to take our adventure further. It truly highlighted how this film is much needed.
