4-8 @hadestown celebrating 7 years (!!!) on Broadway + an official citation from the Mayor’s office
9 @hadestownuk performing at the @vamuseum
10 and all the flowers will bloom
Bowled over w gratitude that we get to keep telling the story of Hadestown on stages in NYC, London + beyond. Theater is magic, I will never get over it!

Signs of life.
1-3- Excited to loan my voice to the huge community singing resistance to ICE in St. Albans on Friday May 8th. Gorgeous simple brave songs of hope and harmony, easy to teach and learn. Come sing with us, Vermont! Legal rally at noon at Taylor Park followed by a sit-in at Customs and Border Protection Offices (training required for the sit-in but not the sing-in).
4-5- Rites of passage. Baby’s first karaoke, and took my eldest to see Our Town 😭
6-8- Full moon type stuff
Hey friends! In case you were missing @bonnylighthorseman content I’m thrilled to report that we wrote a song for this gorgeous film RAIN REIGN premiering (along with the @hadestown live capture!) at @tribeca in June! Our very own Eric scored the movie directed by @erikaburkerossa and featuring @felice_kakaletris@sistosistosisto + Paul Rudd! Was a treat to make music w this band again in service of a deeply moving story 💘💘💘
Was a joy to relearn this song I wrote w @bigredmachineadjv (“Latter Days”) and play it w the brill @aarondessner at the @atlantictheater 40th anniversary gala this week! It’s one of those songs where the meaning keeps changing as years go by. Hollered at my boi @advanced_beginner too. 🏝️🏝️🏝️

1-3: “Centerpieces” (happy spring holidays)
4-6: Zeds bday w papier mache piniata (me + Zed) and rainbow cake (my bro + niece).

8-9: Two great shows in New York you can still catch! 8 is My Joy Is Heavy by @thebengsons directed by rachelchavkin at our old @hadestown stomping grounds @nytw79 !!! Fun fact Abigail and I went to elementary school together and performed in the same annual solstice pageant! 9 is Ivanov by @newamericanensemble directed by @michael__defilippis and produced by @hjvickery (+ associate Peyton Mader!)

A portion of royalties from the Hadestown tour will support the following orgs all engaged in various ways w climate resilience! In this unbearable news cycle I’m grateful for the steady good work of small communities. Thank you! xoa

I first heard this song “Lass of Loch Royale“ in my 20s from the late great Kelly Joe Phelps. Someone gave me a bootleg cd of a live show of his (early aughts). His slide tone alone made me weep and in this live version he did that falsetto thing on “there will be no sweet little babes” which made me weep as well. Feeling feelings in my birthday week! Love to you all!
