A note on the Production Design and Set Decoration for the Holiday film OH. WHAT. FUN. Full disclosure: when we found this house in Atlanta, GA, for the Clausters’ Houston home, I was hesitant. Did this all-white and beige house have enough character to fill the frame of a classic Christmas movie house? Would it work for the story and on camera? Our director, Michael Showalter, was positive it would work with some production design magic. Plus, we needed not one but two houses, and they had to be exactly across the street from each other to tell the story of the Clusters and the Wang Wasserman picture-perfect neighbors. We scouted over 50-75 house-pairs, and these two homes were by far the best. So, with a team of many talented artists, we spent three months planning, transforming, painting, tiling, building, stain-glassing, wallpapering, replacing hardware, redecorating, Christmasing, landscaping, and adding a ton of Claire, Nick, Channing, Taylor and Sam Clauster family history, along with a dash of inside joke “Easter eggs.” Thousands of choices and thousands of collective hours later, we share with you the OH. WHAT. FUN. House BTS process pics and everyone’s favorite, BEFORE & AFTERS. A special shout-out to the classic Christmas homes of movies past. We loved paying homage.
