126 Artist-Run Gallery presents It Felt Like A Dream, a solo exhibition by Asha Murray. Asha’s practice examines narratives of contemporary life through a feminist perspective. She is inspired by the societal constructs interwoven within mundane objects, everyday lives, and domestic spaces. Her practice explores and engages with object ontology, questioning the influence of objects on everyday life. Working across experimental film, textiles, and sculpture, Asha considers themes of overconsumption and consumerism, and the impact of these on identity. We invite you to join us for the opening reception on Saturday April 4 at 6pm. Running until April 26. Open Wednesday to Sunday, 12–6pm. 📍 126 Artist-Run Gallery, Galway

Blown away by the evening we had creating our wonderful Culture Night community banner. To everyone who came along and contributed, had a chat, wrote something or shared a story- thank you. Massive thank you to @portershed for having us, @artsofficegalwaycity and Galway City Council for the support. This workshop was an idea that came to mind when witnessing the increase in individuality and division amongst our community. To gather and create an artwork is a reminder that we all belong. Till next year #culturenight 🫶 @amykramerartist @hughmurphy202 @culture_galway #culturenightgalway #artwork #artist #workshop

As some of you may know, I’ve been doing a residency with Waves of Change over the past month. With our showcase Ripples fast approaching (Friday 28th & Saturday 29th @watershed_artres ), I want to take a moment to reflect on some of the incredible opportunities I’ve had. Starting with an unforgettable day at sea aboard the Tom Crean research vessel! 🚢🌊 Huge thanks to the crew, scientists, The Marine Institute, ATU, The Watershed, and Joao Frias for organizing and accommodating such an amazing experience. More reflections to come—stay tuned! @wavesofchange_ireland @joaofriasresearch @watershed_artres @marineinstituteireland @atugalwaycity #themarineinstitute #atu #watershed #tomcreanrv #science #art #artistresidency #ireland #galwaybay #conservation #aquaculture #oceanliteracy

DUST TO DUST 6th- 22nd of December 2024 We are delighted to announce the selected artists for our final exhibition Dust to Dust. Dust to Dust is an exhibition featuring works by Saoirse McGarry, Mary Fahy, and the collaborative practice of Cormac Adams and Sean Connolly. Exploring shared themes of memory, mythology, and humanity’s evolving relationship with the natural world. Through different mediums, the works engage with the idea of landscapes as spaces where personal and collective histories intersect. They delve into the traces left behind through rituals, narratives, and physical presence, examining how these marks shape our understanding of identity, grief and renewal. Drawing on folklore and spirituality, the exhibition also questions humanity’s impact on the environment, imagining possibilities of harmony between people and nature by blending the sacred with the every day. Together, these works create a dialogue between past and present, body and land, inviting reflection on repair, resilience, and reconnection with the landscapes we inhabit. Please join us for the exhibition launch on the 6th of December kicking off at 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. There will be drinks with reception as provided by the fantastic @micildistillery A massive thank you to all of our sponsors @micildistillery @outset_design_galway @obsidianartsgalway @sevengalway @planetretrovintage @charliebyrnesbookshop The exhibition will include works from @saoirseannemcgarry - Saoirse McGarry @cormac_adams - Cormac Adams @seanconnollya - Sean Connolly @maryfahyart -Mary Fahy Curated by us, the @126gallery.studios interns, @ciara__ch - Ciara CH @amykram - Amy Kramer @leighgreally -Leigh Greally @taylormarshmallow - Taylor Mullins @claddaghblings - Fiona Bradley Supported by the Arts Council and Galway City Council

Today last week, I officially graduated with an MA in Creative Practice. It’s been an amazing year doing what I love, and I’m so grateful to everyone who supported me along the way. A huge thank you to the incredible friends I’ve made, my fellow peers, and the lecturers and staff at ATU for their guidance and encouragement. To my family, thank you for always cheering me on. And saving the best for last, a heartfelt thank you to my best friend and better half, Brendan—you’ve been my rock through it all.
