DUST TO DUST 6th- 22nd of December 2024 We are delighted to announce the selected artists for our final exhibition Dust to Dust. Dust to Dust is an exhibition featuring works by Saoirse McGarry, Mary Fahy, and the collaborative practice of Cormac Adams and Sean Connolly. Exploring shared themes of memory, mythology, and humanity’s evolving relationship with the natural world. Through different mediums, the works engage with the idea of landscapes as spaces where personal and collective histories intersect. They delve into the traces left behind through rituals, narratives, and physical presence, examining how these marks shape our understanding of identity, grief and renewal. Drawing on folklore and spirituality, the exhibition also questions humanity’s impact on the environment, imagining possibilities of harmony between people and nature by blending the sacred with the every day. Together, these works create a dialogue between past and present, body and land, inviting reflection on repair, resilience, and reconnection with the landscapes we inhabit. Please join us for the exhibition launch on the 6th of December kicking off at 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. There will be drinks with reception as provided by the fantastic @micildistillery A massive thank you to all of our sponsors @micildistillery @outset_design_galway @obsidianartsgalway @sevengalway @planetretrovintage @charliebyrnesbookshop The exhibition will include works from @saoirseannemcgarry - Saoirse McGarry @cormac_adams - Cormac Adams @seanconnollya - Sean Connolly @maryfahyart -Mary Fahy Curated by us, the @126gallery.studios interns, @ciara__ch - Ciara CH @amykram - Amy Kramer @leighgreally -Leigh Greally @taylormarshmallow - Taylor Mullins @claddaghblings - Fiona Bradley Supported by the Arts Council and Galway City Council

Some shots from my performance and experimental film ‘Coddhladh Corrach’ This performance explores the role of surrendering to the landscape, to enter into a ritualized space of grieving for the body and land. To explore the role of the female body which walks the line between life and death constantly. To explore the collective grief and song lines within the land. It is a contemporary keen for all that was irreparably lost, attempting to channel and give grief a place of rest. How things are passed through time regardless of death and decomposition. We will all eventually return to the land in a process of reunification but what lingers, what remains once we are gone. A heifers heart was buried in a bog during the performance and will be dug up in 4 years time. The heart will go through no decomposition processes during this time. Sphagnum moss, an indigenous moss in Ireland used originally for menstruation care as well as for babies due to its anti microbial properties has strong ties with the female body and the heart is embalmed with this preserving plant. This project couldn’t have come to fruition without my wonderful collaborators and friends. I am forever grateful for their encouragement and wonderfully talented hands! @saoirseannemcgarry @andschuh_cian @hettylawlor @williamhickey_ These photos where taken by the wonderfully talented @saoirseannemcgarry

Anthotypes April 2023 Anthotypes are the use of photosynthetic materials in plants and flowers to create a photographic exposure. I used beetroot for these and I am beyond delighted at how they came out. I find this process. So beautiful because the photographs are subject to fading and decay and are not permanent fixtures. They will eventually fade and cease to exist. It takes days to expose under the sun and create an image. These are a collection of portraits I took between 2020 and 2023 of various people at various times.
