Still feeling completely and utterly ethereal after @plastic_bodies last week but should probably talk about it. What I can’t get over is sheer amount of reciprocity in the room. The exchange between performers and audience of known and shared feelings. It was cathartic, empowering… and a lot!
Also, we were funny! You found us funny! 🥳 Do you have any idea how daunting it is advertising yourself as funny when so much of your rehearsal room is navigating difficult subject matter with maximum care? I’m so glad the humour prevailed.
5 years ago this piece was just a seedling in a pandemic and it would take a further 3 years before we realised what it could be, and then 2 more to finish.
So grateful to have collaborators who are able to match my OBSESSIVENESS, delighted to have an audience who GOT IT. Our hopes are high for the future of this piece…

Made a lot of noise last night with @marianconsort at @chilternarts as my Madrigals for Plants had another outing as part of TMC’s Language of Flowers series. It’s such a privilege to have this group repeatedly take this piece on outings now as it used to just be little songs I’d sing at my own plants and now it’s a whole thing that makes audiences laugh and singers come alive.
