The deadline to submit is tonight at midnight! Hop in our DMs with any questions or head to the link in our bio for the full audition call. 👀 ABOUT THE CHARACTER 👀 Kay, played at various ages between 10-17, is a white upper-middle class gay teenager. Kay and Anthony are childhood best friends who grew apart when Anthony came out more publicly while Kay has remained in the closet through high school. Kay is book-smart, well-liked, and protective of his secrets. 🌑 ABOUT THE SHOW 🌑 Kay - a middle-class closet-case who lives with his mother and his mother’s girlfriend - and Anthony (Romar Dungo @romar.dungo ) - a first-generation Filipino-Canadian out-and-proud to everyone except his much more conservative family - have a lot in common. As two of the only gay kids in their town, their paths cross over years of birthday parties, summer nights, casual encounters - but some things only stay on the DL for so long. Boy Trouble is a cutting, physical, and playful interrogation of toxic masculinity and casual sex in the Grindr age. We’re down to four shows left! ⏰ Make sure you book early for the last Boy Trouble performances: 🟡 Tonight 8pm (filling fast) 🔴 Friday 8pm (sold out) 🟢 Saturday 2pm (best availability) 🟡 Saturday 8pm (filling fast) Tickets available with low- and no-cost Offer What You Will pricing available online through the @edmontonfringe Box Office. “Brock peppers his script with more than just ruminations on growing up gay. There’s class, race, politics in the LGBTQ+ community, all woven in so finely to the story’s fabric … If this all sounds grimly dramatic, it actually isn’t. There’s also a lot of humour sprinkled throughout.” - @edmontonjournal — director/playwright @macbrockisover featuring @max.hanic and @romar.dungo fight director + intimacy director @samwithbellson set/lights/costume @gilceven video @judahknockoff and @torigmorrison sound @the_kenaleon technical director @egg_moncher stage manager @andreaquetzal photos by @matsimpsonphoto

Fewer than 10 tickets are left for tonight's performance! 👀 Head to the @edmontonfringe Box Office at the link in our bio to grab one of the last seats. 🌳 more about boy trouble: 🌳 "[Boy Trouble] explores the intricacies and ambiguities of coming-of-age. Save the word 'bittersweet,' oft slathered on such stories, for some other play. Here it’s a veritable minefield for characters discovering their sexual identity in a world that’s both small and hostile (like school and family), and big and available (like Grindr and the internet)." - @lizonstage "It’s messy, at times explosive, both characters stumbling along in an era where they may have positive role models, but none of whom really show the complexities of wrangling with the straight world." - @edmontonjournal -- director/playwright @macbrockisover featuring @max.hanic and @romar.dungo fight director + intimacy director @samwithbellson set/lights/costume @gilceven video @judahknockoff and @torigmorrison sound @the_kenaleon technical director @egg_moncher stage manager @andreaquetzal

🎟️ Read on for more info about ASL/relaxed performances! Only about 12 tickets remain for tonight’s show, so book early. Low- and no-cost options are available through @edmontonfringe ’s online Box Office. Boy Trouble is back tonight with ASL interpretation from Robyn Lavender and Lacey Hews! 🤟 During relaxed performances, we adjust a few technical elements for a more sensory friendly environment: we slightly soften sudden or loud sound and lighting, encourage exit and re-entry as needed, and leave a low level of dim lighting in the audience throughout the performance. 🔥 “The situation feels fraught, twitchy, momentous … Boy Trouble plants a flag on the tough terrain where the going should be easier than it is, and the path of self-discovery is rockier than ever.” - @lizonstage — director/playwright @macbrockisover featuring @max.hanic and @romar.dungo fight director + intimacy director @samwithbellson set/lights/costume @gilceven video @judahknockoff and @torigmorrison sound @the_kenaleon technical director @egg_moncher stage manager @andreaquetzal photos by @matsimpsonphoto

Before we’re back on stage at @edmontonfringe tomorrow night at 8pm, check out a few audience responses from week one of Boy Trouble: ♥️ “My heart rejoiced and broke and reassembled and sunk and soared all in 75 minutes.” 🌙 “This show somehow manages to feel both modern and timeless, whimsical yet harrowing.” 👀 “75 minutes never went so quickly! Compellingly woven and unashamedly complicated.” We’ve got six shows left, so head online and book early - seating is limited 🎟️ director/playwright @macbrockisover featuring @max.hanic and @romar.dungo fight director + intimacy director @samwithbellson set/lights/costume @gilceven video @judahknockoff and @torigmorrison sound @the_kenaleon technical director @egg_moncher stage manager @andreaquetzal photos by @matsimpsonphoto

📱 "We used to need each other for everything. We don't anymore. And that's good." Kay and Anthony have a lot to catch up on. This fast-paced, playful, and cutting look at boyhood explores the anatomy of a friendship under the pressure of coming-out and -of-age. -- 🔥 "Brock is a sharp-eared writer of staccato dialogue ... Boy Trouble plants a flag on the tough terrain where the going should be easier than it is, and the path of self-discovery is rockier than ever." - @lizonstage 🔥 "There’s class, race, politics in the LGBTQ+ community, all woven in so finely [with] a lot of humour sprinkled throughout." - @edmontonjournal -- 🎟️ Tickets available for performances Tuesday-Saturday through the @edmontonfringe Box Office! Performance on May 23 at 8:00pm will be ASL interpreted by Robyn Lavender and Lacey Hews. -- director/playwright @macbrockisover featuring @max.hanic and @romar.dungo fight director + intimacy director @samwithbellson set/lights/costume @gilceven video @judahknockoff and @torigmorrison sound @the_kenaleon technical director @egg_moncher stage manager @andreaquetzal
