⏰ 9/11 Day grant applications close June 1 — don’t leave funding on the table!
9/11 Day and @americorps are awarding grants to colleges and universities, K–12 schools, and youth service organizations ready to lead a service project on September 11, a National Day of Service and Remembrance.
This year marks the 25th anniversary of 9/11. If your organization is planning something meaningful, we want to help fund it.

Yesterday in El Paso, Texas, Volunteers from the full gamut of AmeriCorps programs gathered to share their impact with @repescobar and @americorps Chief of Staff Mark Lloyd. After sitting down with the @americorpsnccc team serving with event host @epfightinghunger , they joined a roundtable discussion co-facilitated by @onestarfoundation alongside four local partners: @equal_heart , @iam_elpaso , @centrodesaludfamiliarlafe , and @elpasoisd , where Mark also conducted a site visit earlier in the day. They earned chainsaw certifications, wildland fire qualifications, and hands‑on experience that prepares them for careers protecting America’s public lands. 🌲💚

What a day! Nine AmeriCorps NCCC teams spent the past three months providing free tax preparation services across the country. Today, these teams debriefed staff on their accomplishments, which included returning over $10 million in tax refunds to communities! This huge impact drew some special guests to the Pueblo, Colorado, project debrief: Colorado Governor Jared Polis and a staff representative for Congressman Jeff Hurd! Thanks for joining us!
Many of these teams completed important tasks for communities above and beyond their tax projects. For example, the team in McAllen, Texas, sorted nearly 10,000 pounds of donated clothing, in addition to returning almost $700,000 in tax refunds. The team in Northern Kentucky sorted or distributed almost 100,000 pounds of food, in addition to returning over $650,000 in tax refunds.

It's April 15: Tax Day. For decades, non-profits across the country have partnered with AmeriCorps NCCC teams to expand the capacity of their free tax preparation programs. After completing tax training, these teams help income-qualifying community members navigate what can be a complex process and ensure they receive every tax rebate and credit they're eligible for. The nine teams wrapping up tax projects today are pushing the 15-year total of tax refunds prepared by AmeriCorps NCCC to... nearly a QUARTER of a BILLION dollars!
