Last week, the Equal Heart AmeriCorps team had the opportunity to attend the National Service Training hosted by America’s Service Commissions It was an incredible space to connect, learn, and strengthen our commitment to national service alongside leaders from across the country.
A special moment for our team was seeing our very own AmeriCorps Volunteer, Dorian Melendez serving at @bridgelacrosse , take the stage as a speaker. Watching him share his voice and experience was a powerful reminder of the impact our members are making every day.
Grateful for opportunities like this that continue to grow our network, deepen our knowledge, and elevate the voices of those serving our communities.

On Monday, our #AmeriCorps members, serving across the DFW metroplex, had the opportunity to come together with our longstanding partner, Cornerstone Kitchen, to make a meaningful impact on the community, from providing warm meals to our unhoused neighbors to cleaning and organizing the food pantry!
As part of the AmeriCorps tradition, MLK Day is a “day on, not a day off,” and we proudly honor Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s legacy through an annual day of service.
It was inspiring to see our members step up and dedicate their time to an initiative outside of their usual service site, bringing remarkable enthusiasm and commitment to their service.

Last night, we celebrated a decade of impact and change with Equal Heart’s decennial celebration at @lucia_dallas ! It was truly heartwarming to be surrounded by so many amazing individuals who have supported our journey every step of the way.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for believing in our mission and standing by us for the past 10 years. Here’s to many more years of making a difference together and supporting people in times of adversity!
This past week, Equal Heart proudly hosted various kickoff trainings for AmeriCorps members nationwide, uniting over 300 dedicated members who have answered the call to serve their communities.
From inspiring workshops to hands-on training, it was an energizing experience that showcased the commitment and passion of these extraordinary individuals. They are ready to roll up their sleeves and make a significant impact in their communities, addressing critical needs and driving positive change.
Their dedication to service is the heartbeat of our mission, and we can’t wait to see the remarkable achievements that lie ahead.

We had the pleasure of participating in the @dallasisd NAF Internship Expo at SMU today with an attendance of 500 junior and senior high school students!
This unique opportunity allowed for our Texas @AmeriCorps team to connect with talented juniors and seniors ready to explore their career paths.
Students came prepared for interviews to secure summer internships, and attended Interactive workshops focused on career development and skills enhancement.
We were so impressed by how many students were eager to interview and had the desire to be part of our #AmeriCorps program!

This valuable day included sessions presented by leaders in our local community focused on professional development within the non-profit and social work sector, a DISC Strengths-Based Workshop, financial literacy skills, a keynote address from AmeriCorps alumni, and self-care!
